We don’t have a structure with the ball or without it. So easy to play against for any half decent team that’s well coached. A cohesive and organised pressing game, like the huns have and these lads showed in the second part of the first half, and Celtic will cough up the ball to you. Then we’ll be ragged and exposed as we don’t have a solid defensive shape either. This is very poor and follows on from similarly brutal displays against the likes of Cluj, Copenhagen and Ferencvaros.

We can’t press the ball at all ourselves. Edouard won’t press. Christie is all over the place defensively when he plays higher up. Rogic doesn’t have the energy to do it. Forrest and Christie are the only guys who can do it effectively.

And as you say when someone presses us we can’t cope at all. Our midfielders just get overwhelmed. We fall into those simple traps of forcing the ball back to our keeper or to the likes of Duffy.

Many more problems too obviously. But you have to be able to deal with a press these days and you need to be able to put one together.

Where he got done was in the vicinity of where you’d usually find someone like Glenn Whelan if they were playing together with Ireland. I mean he is only 28 and hasn’t had too many injuries. Maybe a hamstring/calf one last season.

Think I said this before but Gary Breen has been scathing of him for Ireland in the last few years. Blames all the pedestrian football on him and says we can’t even begin to defend well with Duffy being afraid to step forward. Now Gary Breen is an absolute gobshite but he might be right on this occasion. He now seems like a special teams player thst you’d bring on to attack a corner in the last minute. It’s only a few weeks since he played well in Slovakia but that sort of game suits him. If we want to come out and play and hold a reasonable line he’ll get exposed it seems
