The Pretend Fitness 2 - the Turkish Get Up Thread

I’m a bit big to get any more than 4-5 of them.

Is that across the board? Why so? Is it not relative to person’s size?

Try cross grip?

Sounds like a decent warm up

Ah of course there’s a size factor. I’m shot at bench for my size. Much prefer deadlift with my long arms.

If you’re very big or very good at it, you’ll find weight like that much easier but, for the vast majority of people, going that heavy affects/effects recovery a lot more.

Got ya. Thought you were saying there was something unique to the exercise that the plateau was earlier. I was doing five reps at 100 many moons ago, I don’t think I’ll get back there.

You can easily if you’ve done it before (assuming you’re healthy). 8 at 100 is my best.

Era I might. Shoulder impingement a few years back and i didn’t do a press or a pushup of any description for about two years. Back at dumbbell bench press a while now I’ve not tried a barbell yet.

A year on from largely ditching weights for kettlebells and my body feels great. No back issues or shoulder issues in over a year.
A small bit of tennis elbow flared up from over doing it recently but nothing major.

Ive dropped barbell squat and bench totally and only do pushups, pull ups and single leg Bulgarians if I’m doing a bit of gym work… leg extensions also.

Up to 28kg kettlebells now which is decent… use 24s when going for more reps.

Kettlebell work out 1 - with 2 kettlebells

Bent over rows x 5
Cleans x 5
Squats x 5

1 minute rest x 10 rounds. 250 reps

Workout 2 - with 2 kettlebells
This is on the minute every minute… usually 30 seconds on / 30 seconds off

Minute 1 Snatch x 5 left arm, snatch x 5 right arm
Minute 2 squat x 10
Minute 3 Snatch x 5 left arm, snatch x 5 right arm
Minute 4 press x 10
Minute 5 Snatch x 5 left arm, snatch x 5 right arm

Il send on the physio and bone setters details again there for you . Mr Boom or Bust.

You’ve missed the point completely.

Kettlebells have healed me. That’s what they do. They work stability, balance and some of the lesser muscles around the bigger muscles.

The lower back will always be there as i have a rotation issue with L4/L5 …fucking large weights around for the sake of it trigger it. The likes of squats and deadlifts aren’t really for the average person- not heavy sets anyway. Grand if you’re a sports person…

Kettlebells are functional movement.

Could you do that with dumbbells ?

Yes. Obviously look up the proper form to do each exercise…
