Best way to lose weight actually, your burning for anything up to 90 minutes after training. The food you eat after Interval training is some of the nicest you’ll ever eat. :smiley:

Whats HIIT training?

Yeah, I did a good bit of that interval stuff in Oz a few years back.

I dropped from 14 stone down to 11 stone over the year… Fighting fit.

The ould lad suggested a worm dose when he collected me at the airport.

high intensity interval training, kev’s programe is interval training. good for 5 a side, hurling etc.

Run flat out for 1 minute…
Jog for 3 minutes…

Run flat out for 1 minute…
Jog for 3 minutes…

Do this about 7 times…

Dont eat at least 3 hours before doing this… you will puke. :o

High Intensity Interval Training, something like the weeks 5-8 (Weeks 1-4 would be prep really) of what i gave you. But if you were just doing it for health/fitness or whatever you’d probably do a bit more.

Hal Higdon and McMillan are two good running sites with programmes for 5, 10k, 10m, Half, Full etc.

Running is great for losing weight, I went down about 2.5 stone in 4 months after starting a decent bit of running, minding what I eat and laying off the drink. Actually nothing technical running or training wise at all. Literally 3 nights a week of 3 or 4 miles and then a long slow run at the weekend, running about 25-30 mile/ week consistently and the weight fell off and has stayed off.

Intervals, tempo, fartlek can all wait until you get more seriously into the training.

Have been jogging for the past 4 nights and am fairly broke up today, legs are dead as fuck and feeling quite letargic…Might take a few days off from it now, will probably go for a swim tonight and a game of badminton tomorrow evening

Gave my own variation of Round 1 a lash last night… tough going after 9 weeks off injured. Basically did ten laps, jogging 200M speed up for 100m Jog for 200m speed up for 100m etc. It’s as easy stay on your toes than walk I think.

Thats typical HIIT alright. Thats a great weight loss one in fact.

Walking is more for out and out sprinting generally, you are performing an anaerobic exercise in a sprint, so recovery needs to be full. Anyway, whats key is rest,progression and variation, no matter what level, sport, age, weight or whatever. Keep those things in mind and you’ll improve all the time.
