The Pretend Fitness Thread

There is nothing wrong with it Puke, and you will improve a general fitness, but you are more open to injury, and there are better ways of doing it for field sports.

But look, you can only try to help a fella so much, some people just will always think they know the best way no matter what. And for someone who knows a number of county hurlers i can’t believe you wouldn’t even talk to them about it.

Yeah some people sure do alright.
:pint:

I just don’t know which of the 2 of ye is worse.

I’m going to go for a jog tomorrow.
There is great running trail over the road from me, so might get out and do a bit.

Farran Woods in Cork is great for that. There was some great runs in Avoca through the woods in Wicklow as well.

A lot of rape incidents happen in woods so jog safely.

You sick fucks. Runs are nothing to be getting excited about. That’s probably how the Puke ended up with his knee in shit for all we know.

It’s not really a wooded area so I should be safe enough.

What’s the story with pilates?

waste of time, get out and start jogging the road

I’m going to start getting fit… from mid February onwards…

Would road running be the way to go?

I have only been doing it for a week but can’t speak highly enough of it…you can go at your own pace and do your own thing…Although i would recommend some decent tunes on your i-pod or portable music device to help pass the time while running

I don’t have an ipod or portable music device i was thinking looking at wildlife would be enough to keep me entertained while running.

I will have to invest in a pair of runners and shorts, have you any recommendations where i would get either that would be up to the job?

a pair of hi-tec or new balance runners should do the job

Do not run on roads - its a guaranteed way to fuck up your legs.

What about treadmills? And what would road running do to your legs.I take it,it wouldn’t be the best thing for the cartilages in both knees.

Treadmills seem to be fine by comparison. Invariably people end up with shin splints when they run on such a hard surface, and on top of that most runners, boots etc warp the natural foot fall, causing further injuries (to the hamstring in particular)

Many hurling teams can only do two sessions a week - do you expect these teams to do circuit training all the year round? That will heavily effect their touch and sharpness.

Dunph…

Cutting out half the portions on the Ravenous thread would go along way in getting the body ready for fitness training.
