Match. Just came straight out and back in.
Went through a phase of it happening a good bit for a year a couple of years ago, but I thought it had cleared up.
Hard luck Runty. Ended my playing career. Pretty fucking sore. You have it operated on?
Na, I was told alright I would need one about a year ago, but it would have meant me being seriously limited with work for 6 weeks and by then I had gone 5 or 6 months without it happening so I thought I was over it.
I was given exercises recently to strengthen the rotator cuff and did these for the first time the other night, I reckon they might have stretched the ligaments or something and made it loose again.
Op will give you a bit of confidence in it but like you said youl be limited for a long time and will need plenty gym to get it right. If your anywhere close to end of playing career probably not worth it. Some dose though
johnny mcgeeney wins his first over hurdles for willie mullins and paul townend
Yes, a very fit horse
woops wrong thread
anyone use foam rollers for stretching? any use?
was thinking of investing in one. suppose to be very good for stretching the IT band. was getting a bad pain on outside of my knee after a long run. thought it was my IT band. went to physio and she said it was probably connected with my feet as i was pronating inwards slightly when running. gave me a pair of temporary orthotics and while my knee was sore after running it was miles better. will have to get a pair of customed ones know. very expensive but they will be well worth it.
They are for massage really, they shouldn’t replace stretching.
Find them really good myself.
Did anyone here ever attempt to do one of those Ironman competitions??? presume the training alone would be huge
I was thinking of doing one before but there seems to be a bit of work involved in it…
A lad I knew in Limerick did Iron Man a bit. He used to do most of his training on the bike, often cycling from Limerick city out to Shannon or NCW and back. He would run around the city then, maybe doing 20miles or so. He wasn’t a fan of the swimming so would only head out to UL once a fortnight or so and swim lap after lap for an hour or two. Sounded pretty tough but he didnt take it that seriously either.
What does the strenghtening involve runt? Do you need weights or is it done with those bands? I have a bit of trouble with this myself.
Not a pick on the fucker I’d say…Fair play to any man to do it…
Pfft. I could do that.
He was built like a brick shithouse. There’s an Iron Man club/team in Limerick, all middle aged lads and they head off to some big event in Switzerland every year to compete and go on the piss after over there. It’s brutal stuff I’d say. 2.5mile swim, 112mile cycle and a full marathon run after all that then.
Mate of mine does this shit. Its nuts. He is a massive fucker too, mainly from the swimming, has to eat a shed load to maintain energy levels from training. He does all his swimming training with his arms only i.e. no legs kicking to save them for the bike/run. That is tough going, 2hrs at a time in the pool!
Youd want to be a v experienced triathlete before youd think about one of these bad boys.
I was in Lanzarote a few years ago on a lad’s week away. The Iron Man was on there, it’s a pretty big deal, the Lanzarote one. Anyway, we saw the start at around 7am one morning when we were leaving the nightclub. We went home and slept till early afternoon, ate, went on a drive to the other side of the island for something to do, came back, showered, went and ate dinner, bought booze, went to the apartment and drank for hours, got a taxi to the strip around 3 or 4 am…and there was still plenty of athletes hobbling around the place trying to complete the course. Utter and complete madness. You’d be winning your category with a time of around 10 hours sure.
Fact. I did some short triathlons, and even the move to Olympic distance is a shock. Thats where my interest waned, but i will try an Ironman at some stage, probably in my 40’s.
I love the cycling & swimming, its the thought of running 26 miles that doesn’t appeal. Trained for a marathon once and broke my ankole football training.
