@Spideys mate blocking this

A delay to a Dublin rail project? I’m absolutely shocked at this development

Closing the salmon Weir bridge in Galway is utterly utterly fucking stupid. There’s a lovely expensive pedestrian and cycling bridge five fucking yards downriver.
The traffic, already brutal is going to be absolutely gridlocked on the other bridges. I’m all for pedestrianising town, but as things stand, it rains half the year, there’s no public transport and no bypass. Galway insisting growth is great and there’s now only two ways of crossing the river by the only means of transport viable for swathes of folk. It’s absolutely moronic.

When is that supposed to happen?

Permission was granted today apparently.

So traffic coming in from Headford Rd either goes left at Wood Quay or up Eglinton St at the Courthouse?
Everything coming into town from that side is directed over the Quincentennial Bridge?

I’m not seeing any practical benefit

Not allowed up Eglinton street I don’t think. Buses only.

Ah no who was it? Tbf Irish rail have only had 40 years to get the submission right so there’s bound to be a few gaps in the initial draft.
