Did she say 9 years?! I can’t get my head around how long this is taking
a quick google suggests metros take between 5 to 15 years to build
I’m in two minds about whether we even need a metro.
What if we built a rapid train line along the black route, that takes in Blanch. It can go underground where nessecary along the way, but mostly it’s greenfields. Airport to Heuston in 15 mins, with maybe a stop in Blanch.
The red route links the airport to the Dart line which would service stops along that route, and facilitate airport to Belfast trains. As part of this the Dart Line would get a massive capacity overhaul, which it needs anyways.
Green line then is the luas extended to Swords or wherever through the airport.
I’d imagine this would cost similar or a lot less.
And it would be a whole pile more useful to a lot more people.
I think they are trying to kill two birds with the one stone, when two (or three) stones might be cheaper and make more sense
the experts who study this are against the red line as the line is already over capacity. they are turning this into dart north
the number of people that can get onto a Luas is way smaller than the metro & the frequency of trains is way less & the time to get into town is way slower
trust the specialists
I read in a tweet the Charlemont Terminal has already been built
Dublin Airport (and particularly Muldoons connection to it), is down the list for why this is needed.
You’d want your head examined using an underground in this day and age given the current global situation. I’ve been in New York and Paris recently And didn’t use the underground once. It’s why I refuse to visit London now too.
A.rapid train from malahide to the airport would be welcome
What’s wrong with an underground?
even better than that- they are putting in amazing bike lanes to the airport
Your man Colm McCarthy, the lad who wanted to pave over St Anne’s Park, was on Claire Byrne this morning saying this was unnecessary. Swords could be sorted by buses he said if they stopped people parking cars in the city. I’d say the lad hasn’t a scooby doo.
Is this the economist, the head of bord snip?
Yes. One of the go to economists for FFers back in the day.
He’s a specialist.
We should trust him.
What’s he a specialist in?
Details of the proposal by Scottish second division club Clydebank to relocate to Dublin will be unveiled over the next couple of weeks, according to Dublin economist and Clydebank shareholder Colm McCarthy.
1998 that was. I don’t think Clydebank have relocated yet.
