The Race for a Vaccine. The Road to Demaskus

No, March is too soon. Supposedly we start getting proper quantities of our share of the vaccine in early March, so itā€™s not going to be a limited enough roll out in January and Feb.

Would it really? Maybe leaving myself open to a civil service joke here but the week before Christmas to the first week of January is dead time really, does anyone really care what happens? From a communications point of view the announcement would get lost anyway. Starting vaccinations in January would be a positive start to the year and would make restrictions more tolerable.

We should be facing into two weeks of pure joy but instead itā€™s going to be the toughest two weeks of the year.

I am not looking forward to it.

Looks like the yanks will approve Moderna soon. I think they have the vast majority of Modernaā€™s jab tied up for themselves though. For the next few months anyway.

You make it sound like you have a life outside TFK.

I know the world doesnā€™t revolve around the GAA but if there were any chance that there would be a return to normality in 2021 the GAA would hold off running intercounty into 2nd half of next year when there could be crowds at games. Pubs may reopen alright in a limited capacity but mass crowds at festivals and sporting events wont be seen until at least 2022 I would think. They have already stated that mass roll out of vaccine wont occur until May or June next year.

I think the big issue is that by attempting the run club in the first half of the year they will risk it being deferred due to restrictions. At the moment they know that they can run off the IC championship regardless of what level of restrictions are in place. I understand an official announcement is due on Friday but my sources have indicated IC will go first.

Everything will be 100% back to normal by June

Thereā€™s also the issue that clubs wouldnā€™t have their players if the county was second, same as it was before.
I canā€™t see 80k in Croke park by July though

At least I wonā€™t have to talk to relatives

Malahide next Juneā€¦

Iā€™ll miss a lot of family and friends. Not being able to go racing will be a pain. Itā€™s going to be very depressing.

In tears watching this. God be with the days we could run wild and free with fire in our hearts and love in our eyes. It feels like a lifetime ago.
We have lost so much

IC will go ahead at first behind closed doors ( in a similar rushed just get it done type scenario) and then the hope would be club action with maybe 500 max in attendance
realistically 2022 before any form of open access to games is even a remote possibility

ah its sad really
here we are the tuesday after an All ireland senior hurling final, most of the country couldnt even tell you who won, let alone who they beatā€¦ it was a total non event

Not sure if posted here already but they only have 25k doses pre jan. Bit of a stunt by them when itā€™s only a drop in the ocean numbers wise

I didnā€™t even know it was on. Imagine that. How has it come to this?

yeah you will see water starting to be poured on the ā€œrolloutā€ plan gradually
fellas are looking for some binary switch but its not there at all, it would be absolute folly to think this will happen

Will the Olympics go ahead in 2021
