The ref in this camogie game

Out in the open at a camogie match???

You bring them to gut them and take away their power and start to the run the organisation properly.

Not that the GAA are above a few blunders but if you think their bureaucratic types are bad, they’re nothing next to the camogie & LGFA ones. Drunk on their own “power”. (Obviously there are plenty of good volunteers involved too but the loudest voices tend to be the worst)

The Camogie Association are more SPUC than puck.

Hopefully that would happen, but this was something that the IC players should have gotten on top of themselves.

Dublin captain Aisling Maher released a powerful statement on her instagram page after yesterday skorts protest ahead of the Kilkenny-Dublin camogie game.

It reads in full:

“Career low for me today when 60+ players ready to play a championship game in shorts are told their match will be abandoned if every player doesn’t change into skorts.”

“I love this game but I’m sick of being forced to wear a skort that is uncomfortable and unfit for purpose.”

“How are female players still having to push for permission to wear shorts while they compete at the highest level of their sport.”

“In no other facet of my life does someone dictate that I have to wear something resembling a skirt because I am a girl. Why is it happening in my sport?”

Aisling Maher, also co-chair of the GPA executive. This might not have happened if she did her job and got properly organised for the motion to the Camogie Congress

Strange stance you’re taking on this. How is it the players responsibility? They’ve made their views clear enough.

Is it too much to expect that people who are delegates who are the ones voting on this either:
a). Have a hint of cop on and exist in the modern world or
b). Failing them having a hint of cop on, go and consult the players on their views?

Why are the Camogie association fighting this?

Aisling Maher, another Orange Goat regular & a very nice person by all accounts.

The Camogie trophy is the Eoin O’Duffy Cup, named after Irish facist leader Eoin O’Duffy.

That should give an insight into the politics of that association.

The above is not actually true, but who fucking cares, it’s not as if the Camogie Association can be defamed as they have no good name to lose anyway.

There’s a wider truth contained within the above lie and we all know it.

No idea. There’s a way to get this done and Aisling (the co-chair of the GPA national executive) didn’t get it done properly/competently, and now it’s because she’s a girl. In a Camogie association. I hate to point out the obvious here

Aisling had her official statement ready to go today and was able to get on the radio with Des this afternoon though. Spare me

Tone deaf from the camogie association here.

On top of everything else it’s very hard to judge hoop quality in dem aul skorts.

I expect this whole issue to be dealt with very quickly, it will take one weekend whereby every Camogie club/county simply wear shorts and it’s game over.

The ‘size’ of the O’Neills shorts might be the next issue if they move

The camogie club are idiots to fight this, they should have sorted this last year and lobbied the clubs on it. The girls don’t want the skirts, simple. Move on.

Aisling is supposed to personally contact every delegate? How about expecting delegates not to be backwards arsed dinosaurs having put themselves forward to be camogie delegates?

It would appear that simple. However, if a referee were to let a match go ahead based simply on the fact that all of both squads were ''co-operating" together by wearing shorts, it would leave him open to the losing team to object to the result as you couldn’t trust the cunts.

When did skorts come in? It was skirts within living memory & I thought the players originally pushed for the skorts back in the day

Been there since the start. 1905 or thereabouts

My missus told me she was wearing skorts 30 years ago
