The Rugby Thread (Part 2)

Nucifora pushed him for a year to move, have a look at the quotes of the time. He was under central contract, Leinster did not want to lose him.

You forgot Kieran Lewis from the list @glasagusban forgot Trevor hogan

Leinster canā€™t keep all the players. Players will seek opportunities elsewhere if they can. Thatā€™s just the market, Iā€™m struggling to see how you can frame that as nucifora forcing players to move.

Talking about only the last decade.

Of course they will but McGrath was a Test Lion. He was also in the middle of a central contract and played Tests during the year he moved. Leinster did not want him to leave but Nucifora pushed it.

At the time Nucifora was mad for it. He even tried to get Ross Byrne to go to Ulster but he told them to get lost.

The point was that these claims that Nucifora was biased for Leinster are laughable.

I didnā€™t see any claims that he was biased for Leinster but the Henshaw move would support it. I donā€™t know is the responsibility for hiring and keeping and continuing to keep van graan at Munster nuciforaā€™s or the Munster boardā€™s, but it was pretty bad. One of the major criticisms of him has been complete neglect of the club game, in particular as a pathway to develop players.

So despite the examples of dozens of players moving to other provinces being dismissed by you, this other one proves he was biased.

Thatā€™s not really what I said but theyā€™re different cases. Most of your list of players is nonsense. Market realities rather than nucifora moving people as youā€™re trying to intimate. Connacht should really have been supported to keep their marquee player. Is there any other example of a really top player moving province at the top of their game other than Carbery or henshaw? I donā€™t think so.

IRFU didnā€™t want Henshaw to move to Leinster. Prior to Bundee he was the only marketable player at Connacht and they tried for months to have him sign a Central Contract to keep him West. Henshaw was adamant about living with his girlfriend up in Dublin and forced the move. Itā€™s a strange one to keep highlighting tbh.

Jason Jenkins is an unusual one too, though Munster should never have been allowed sign him in the first place, another bad call from nucifora.

Yes.

McGrath was a central contract and was playing Test rugby the year he left.

Jordi Murphy started in the Champions Cup final and left two weeks later.

In fact 3 of that final winning 23 were moved on under Nuciforaā€™s direction. And he wanted more to do it too.

Nucifora was mad for this a few years ago. It slowed down a bit as he has focused on doing it at Academy level.

Yep- it was completely his decision.

I am not saying that Leinster have not benefited from players from other provinces but not really under Nucifora.

The shear number of players from Academy to Internationals in the last decade is just undeniable.

As it should be too. Iā€™m not complaining. Just going back to the hitching and moaning about Ben Healy, itā€™s a bit much.

What a performance from Connacht and JJ there. Foot perfect bar one missed touch. Connacht need to stick with him at 10 now. Technically he is just much tighter than Carty. He is just a much better judge of situations. Would love to see a late career Ireland push, he was that good today.

Shithole lining out at no1 here for the DHL Stormers

Heā€™s been a fantastic signing so far. Nothing special in the loose but so reliable from the tee.
