The Saturday/Sunday Game Thread

Imaine the abuse he gets from his brothers and close mates

No

I was told different.

I didn’t realise you could get an anulment if the couple had kids as that would suggest the marriage was valid and had been consummated?

He has his wedding pictures on social media. Could have faked them I guess

No you still can. But it’s warped. It basically makes the kids " illegitimate " which is a horrible term in this day and age

Sure Ireland is full of hypocritical Catholics. The type of fellas who go to brothels and then stand at the back of Sunday mass

I believe you. I was just saying i was told different. Or maybe it was postponed a while ago. I was told this in the pub so may be mixing it up. I don’t know. Anyway congrats to the happy couple.

Wasn’t he injured for the Munster club and not dropped?

That was the club word.

Who knows.

I think the rumour was it was originally postponed.

Michael Lyster will leave his role as host of The Sunday Game after this year’s championship.

According to a report in The Sunday Times, the popular Galway man is obliged to retire from RTÉ when he turns 65 next April. That means he will no longer be able to host the national broadcaster’s flagship GAA show, with Darragh Maloney and Joanne Cantwell among those tipped to succeed him.

He first hosted The Sunday Game highlights programme in 1984 before concentrating solely on the live show over a decade ago. Pat Spillane initially replaced him as host of the highlights programme before Des Cahill took over in 2007.

Lyster, along with regular panellists such as Colm O’Rourke, Joe Brolly and Pat Spillane, has covered many of the GAA’s most memorable moments in a long broadcasting career. He suffered a “massive heart attack” in 2015, but thankfully regained full health.

The Barnaderg native will be back on our screens tonight for the first edition of the year of League Sunday.

Strange way to put it

It’s the usual way to describe a ‘massive’ heart attack

Joanne Cantwell replacing him would be a great appointment for SKY.
