I love when they try to disguise the bitterness by making a ‘serious’ point though. The same lad has been complaining that it’s only an old friendly competition all along, now that there isn’t a Cork player left it’s the benchmark :grinning:

In fairness I don’t think any Sigerson or Fitz teams are prepared well these days. They are lucky to have access to county players for the matches. Never mind preparation for the matches.

Most established senior county players don’t really give too much of a monkeys about Sigerson.

Limerick is the Fitzgibbon stronghold you’d have to say - 3 years running the cup has been in Limerick and every chance UL make it 4 in a row.

You see its a bit of an oxymoron really.

Not that many college going players can be established. Bar the odd Con O’Callaghan they are not established at all. The sheer lack of time and age profile dictates this.

Paddy Durcan, Diarmuid O’Connor (Mayo)
Fintan Kelly (Monaghan)
Diarmuid Murtagh (Roscommon)
Stephen O’Brien (Tipp)

All established starters and key players for their respective counties.

I know another All Ireland winner who rates a sigerson below all ireland but above club county won.

You are just guessing above nd have no insight into this competition or how players value it.
