The schools

That’s always been the case, it’s very very rare that TUSLA investigate these any further but the parent gets a message I suppose

Incredibly rare only if there has been other referrals are in the system but this is more scare mongering, if a child has to isolated for 2 weeks as advised thats 10 days, is it 20 days in general or 20 days without doctors note etc?

It’d be 20 unexplained absences, you have to input a reason for an absence, it’s generally at the teachers discretion, isolation days would be sick days, wouldn’t count

Gas bastards the government. They wouldn’t let them into schools for three months last year

Not even clearing up basic facts as trackie did above. That’s nothing unusual for referrals to TULSA. Picking and choosing what they are stating

How many teachers murdered today? it must be in the 1000’s now

The CFA don’t go after middle or upper class kids

They don’t go after half enough people if truth be told, even if it’s only to give them a fright.

I suspect the reason that that was bumped was to put the frighteners up the huge amount of parents who would use this crisis as an excuse not to bother their holes getting the kids out to school having a ready made excuse in the bag

They spend an awful lot of time going after the low hanging fruit which invariably leads to a load of resource wastage. If they had early interventions and supports in place then that’d rule out a lot of the very expensive legals.

TUSLA are too busy fitting up innocent people as paedophiles to investigate anything else.

Happened us when the youngest got glandular fever there last year. The school were made aware that she was going to be out for a good scelp. Letter came from the school that they were obliged to contact tusla but that Tusla would be updated as to why she was out. I was pretty impressed tbh.

Not quite sure I follow what you’re getting at, I have e good bit of experience with this, I’d have to submit reports every year, (it’s my legal duty) and it’s never been followed up, anecdotally in our place (we’d be top dogs in Limerick I’d say) it is incredibly rare that anything is done. I’m sure that child protection services have more urgent things to deal with

I don’t know what you’re getting at @flattythehurdler

Give Maurice McCabe a Google.

I’m speaking in generality about the conduct of the CFA. I don’t particularly have an issue with the reporting of the absences but I wouldn’t fancy being on the CFA database at any time.

Flatty is talking about the attempted fit up of Maurice mccabe which fits in with not wanting to be on a CFA database

Ya, well as somebody who works closely enough with TUSLA from time to time I can tell you (as I have before) that there are mostly very fine people working in that body, kind of frustrating to read the cynicism that is commonplace because of a few isolated incidents in the past, like its reflective of everybody

Yeah, I couldn’t disagree with that. The whole Maurice McCabe thing was more about cunts trying to cover their arses and using whatever pull they had to try and bury him.

Firstly TUSLA doesn’t exist, it’s the child & family agency, as per statute. The fact that they spunked time and money pushing the TUSLA thing tells its own story.

Secondly, having spent 10 years dealing with them on a daily basis, I dont agree with your conclusion but I’ve no doubt that it’s based on your personal experiences and any interactions I’ve seen between teachers and social workers is normally warm enough.

It’s when they’re dealing with parents on the other side of care proceedings that their true colours come out.

That said I’ve experienced good social workers and the difference they make to a case is astonishing
