Do it if you think it’s right and you like it. Teaching is fantastic if you like it and hell if you dont. Have you any experience of kids with disabilities or learning needs? And have you a shit tonne of patience? I know an SNA. A lot depends on the child she is assigned to and the relationship she builds with them. A tough one can be really tough.
Obviously you’ll have no bother with the kids parts as you have about 15 of them between 6 months and 25 years of age.
I’d say go for it though. I’m in a similar position to you and recently did a swim teaching course. It was brilliant. Well worth the money even if I never use it for anything other than teaching my own kids/relatives. And you’re learning something new. @TheUlteriorMotive will tell you all about the importance of the growth mindset.
My Mrs has done a course in it. Hoping to get into it. Pay isn’t great but you could be doing worse
I’ve a friend who works with @backinatracksuit. He did a few other jobs prior to it (fitting windscreens was one). It’s tough work but he’s out the gap at 3, and unlike teachers, that’s his day done
He has the right personality for it, laid back and loved the craic with the kids, can leave it all behind him at 3pm.
If it’s for you it’s a great gig, very much depends on the school , the class and most of all the teacher, if you don’t get on well with the other adult in the room I’ve heard it’s hell.
But you can be the kids pal all the time, the teacher is responsible for all the shitty bits, I think it’s a lovely job
My kids school had 37 enrolled for junior infants so they were split and he is in a class of 18. There is a DS boy in the class so the teacher has 18 students and a full time SNA in the classroom who as far as I can see acts as a de facto teacher to all of them and is fantastic
Yeah mine has too, she’s waiting for a call from the local school.Pays not great but you’ll never have childminders to pay ever again and when the kids are on holidays so are you.
