The schools

That’s way better than over here. A good TA is worth their weight in gold. The last two I’ve had have been brilliant thankfully as a bad one is shocking. They are paid fuck all over here

Would you get paid during the summer?

It’s a proper job mate, if you’re employed on a permanent basis then like a teacher your salary is spread over 12 months,
The qualification is a piece of piss @Faldo, you’ll do all your learning on the job

But as somebody else said, there’s a lot to be said for keeping the same work hours as your kids, you can’t buy that

If you’re permanent, yes

I suppose you can sign on for the summer if your not permanent

Genuine question here and not a dig. I’m coming at this from a viewpoint of having extremely high regard and respect for teachers. What is the argument for teachers having such good holidays? I don’t get the ‘salary spread across the year’ thing either is that suggesting that their salary should be 20 or 30 pc higher if they got normal holidays?

:grinning::grinning: you’re an awful naive

I don’t know I’d the answer,
But I’d hate for my own kids to have a longer school year to be honest, is it some redeployment or a longer school year you’d want?

By honestly mate, if you saw my wage slip I don’t think you’d be arguing I need to work harder for it, I’ve said before that I earned more money selling tiles and bathrooms 5 days a week 20 years ago

I would have questioned it myself until my kids went to school. They are bamboozled with tiredness by the time the mid terms and hols come around. They need a break

Teachers are massively underpaid for the contribution they make to society and what they give to kids. Same as nurses, firemen etc… People don’t know the value of anything

Anyone who argues otherwise is talking through their hole

I’m just thinking more in terms of July provision type set up for autistic kids supervising exams correcting exams summer camps planning for the year ahead. You’d imagine teachers could be rostered to do some of this for four weeks of summer.
I’m not in any way bashing the massively important work teachers do by the way. I don’t think my suggestion above is that outrageous. They’d still have 9 weeks holidays a year.

That’s fine, I won’t argue, I just turn up every day and do my job, I don’t dictate the terms.
I do July provision but I get paid extra for that, about 1100 I think,
And obviously I also plan, don’t be thinking that teachers only work 6 hours a day, 183 days a year

You’re a very bitter man.

Where does the End The Lockdown party stand on teachers pay pal?
You won’t be getting my vote unless you are demanding a massive increase

Big payday ahead :joy:

Proper order

Nurses and teachers all deserve whatever they get, the doctors can go to fuck, overpaid tyrants. Other EU countries have far shorter waiting times and pay their doctors far less, the reason the health service in Ireland is such a mess is because of the amount of money we spend on doctors’ wages.

Judges too

Just supply and demand though isn’t it? Nurses and teachers deserve more but they are probably the two most common jobs out there

Or do an extension… Money isn’t the issue. I’m realistically Probably a year off going back to physical work like I was doing. I lm just looking to do something while I’m off and I alway thought I’d like to do something along the lines of this
