That’s the right call.
I agree tbh I think it’ll be after the Easter break. We will level 5 until imho
Thoughts are with @ChairmanDan and others in his boat at times like this,
Hopefully supports are put in place for kids with special needs, whatever that entails
I hoped it wouldn’t come to this but it seemed inevitable in recent days, you’d wonder what could happen in a couple of weeks to have us all back on Feb 1
Figures down to 500
A day is a long time in Covid knee jerking
On basis this is last lockdown they should lock down til end of March and vaccinate 40k a week - assuming it’s 2 doses you’d have 240k people vaccinated by end of March and hopefully by then it can be ramped up with more doses available.
If we wake up at end of February with less than 100k vaccinated then we may forget about the rest of the year
Didn’t I say it myself
I agree wholeheartedly, most teachers get involved in extracurricular activities, be it GAA, soccer, rugby etc, I know my kids school has a rake of them helping out after school
Norma has said she want schools to stay open for kids with special needs. So at least its being thought of.
Great idea provided she can roll out a vaccine plan for those working in the sector. One that can be administered immediately.
She seems prone to making pronouncements that she hasn’t considered in any great detail. We’d like to do this, we’ll try to do that. I think people gave her a break for a while after the early pile on for being out of her depth, but the sector is increasingly saying she doesn’t involve stakeholders in decision making, or answer valid queries/complaints on resources/supports. She just drifts along until the next crisis emerges and then makes the next pronouncement.
I’m going on the basis that schools will be closed as long as we are in level 5 anything less is a u turn from the goverment. I’m assuming level 5 until after Easter as it covers 2 BHs (no way will pubs or restaurants will be opened for paddys day). Do I think schools should be open in February? yes. Do I think the goverment will do it given case numbers and public fear around it? No way
There’s talk of keeping schools open for special needs kids so fingers crossed. He’s got up the last two mornings and put on his school uniform.
have you heard anything @backinatracksuit of how this will work?
id be fairly pissed off if we just get a list of things to do each day, have the DOE issued home schooling guidelines?
Good one
some fuck up if they havent
Seriously though, our kids books were sent home before Xmas in anticipation of this happening
They’ll tell every principal to figure out what’s best within vague meaningless guidelines
same with ours but most parents will be pissed off if they are expected to teach their kids and work
on boards some are talking about doing live classes
