The schools

I was talking to a special education coordinator and whilst in principle getting special needs units running, it seems the logistics have not been fully thought through. Many secondary units have incorporated teaching where the kids go to mainstream classes and then do additional classes within the SNU. But they wont be able to do mainstream now as the class wont be there, and trying to incorporate them into a main stream class with their special needs assistant may not be feasible. They have been considered, absolutely, but there is a long way to go it seems from the bits I’ve heard about how practical it can be and will work. some teachers will need to be in school for the SNU but then be able to be online for normal classes.

Mary Lou is have a nightmare on the six one. She can’t decide if she agrees with the goverment but also agree the leaving should go ahead but schools should be closed. Contradiction herself in the same in the same sentence

Terrible leo has played a blinder binning all opposition

Louise O Reilly on the news at one also. She failed to nail down any position on anything at all despite being given a huge platform.

Not happening. Teaching unions have scuppered it. That and the usual government capitulation and u-turn within 24 hours.

Its child cruelty at this stage to children with special needs. As far as this virus goes the cure is far worse than the disease for a significant minority.

I’m sorry to hear that Dan. That’s really shit.

Sorry to hear Dan. I’m not surprised by the reversing of the decision. As noted previously, the government made the decision with no consultation with unions or schools on how the practicalities of the set up would work. They had months to sort out a plan, but instead just threw out an idea but no way to actually make it function and expected it to be sorted in 3 days.

Did Norma not speak to the unions first?

It seems not.

I think she’s on prime time tonight.

Clueless

Ha! Sure why would she do that? It’s not like it was a completely haphazard plan that had no way of working and was well thought out.

No. They could have rolled out vaccine to teachers in special schools. The blame lies with government and not teachers in these schools or their representatives. I’m very sorry for your situation @ChairmanDan.

Spot on.

They slumbered back after their cosy holidays and just came out with utter bullshit ideas with no consultation whatsoever.

The vaccines for the vulnerable line is wearing thin now.

I don’t know whether you are serious about this or not. Logistically the theory makes sense and what’s is in it bar jabbing someone in the arm with a needle. The few nuances to this are you would need to know how to deal with an adverse reaction, up to and including CPR etc. Also is there a strict filtering process done first by a medical professional i.e. This teacher who has just done a 2 day course on becoming a vaccinator only gets to jab those who have no complications or other medical issues etc…

There are plenty medical professionals in the country to do this if its set up properly. Dentists for example are at fuck all. Pharmacists already administer flu vaccines.
