You’ve missed my main point which was the teachers do an irreplaceable job. I understand and completely appreciate why they are reluctant to go into the classroom.
Doing off a work list and a zoom.meeting doesn’t go a fraction of the way of replacing them and their role. So instead, hold fire on the home schooling and wait til class can be resumed and make up.for.lost time.
And your response was ‘home school em so, sounds like going well for you’. Sneery little comment out of you.
you aren’t making much sense on the matter to be honest mate.
You seem to be saying you understand why kids are at home and why teachers won’t go in. But home schooling is hard, so what’s the point and what’s the point of teachers at all if they can’t teach in a pandemic.
Ah his point is clear enough. He’s saying whats the point of teachers if homeschooling is considered a valid replacement for school. He’s asking a rhetorical question. He thinks this should not be counted as school time and the kids should make it up later. There’s a lot to said for it and it would certainly be much more equal way of doing it for students from all backgrounds
If its 3 months and then another 3 months- it goes into next year, and then the whole school system is fucked
It has to trundle on in a best effort scenario. It’s not ideal. Just stopping would be worse. What the fuck would the kids do without any semblance of structure.
Could make all kids repeat the year. There are kids who will have lifelong reading issues from this shit show. They will never catch up. They won’t be counted in any Covid statistics by George Lee though.
Yea true too. I’ve lost interest in the whole affair really. No one knows the right or wrong thing to do about any aspect of it really so we may just go with the flow
Every single solution to every aspect of covid has serious flaws. It’s a massive shit show and there’s very little we can do about it except do our best with what we have . Helps get through it if you start thinking like that. Especially if you’re not in a job that can affect change.
Did anyone watch Prime Time earlier? Thought Fran McNulty (again in for Mark Coughlan who’s on paternity leave, congrats Mark) was pure stupid in his questioning of the teacher rep fella. His opener was…are you saying you’re as essential as frontline healthcare workers? Going down the confrontational route from the get go and trying to tie your man up in knots with dumb scenarios etc etc instead of having a proper debate.
