Leave him alone
It seems the lads doing all the commenting dont like genuine questions - Censorship at it’s finest.
I’m zen
They’ve used schools past performance in the algorithm. Which puts schools is lower socioeconomic areas at a disadvantage straight away. They’ve also not used the algorithm or at least changed it for smaller cohorts which means smaller A level subjects aren’t affected and independent/private schools haven’t been affected much. It’s a fuck up once again by Williamson.
Schools getting fucked about with these contradictory guidelines. You wonder sometimes have the fellas coming up with these ever been out in the real world at all
You’re not the only teacher on her fen.
I’d be interested in what you have to say.
I’m interested in @Declan_Moffat opinion on particular schools going to the msm and seemingly claiming that their entire year groups have been intentionally erroneously downgraded by huge amounts.
Would he want his own children competing for university places and jobs and livelihoods against others whose schools appear to have awarded them unusually good grades?
Williamson honestly comes across in interview like a person with special needs.
Sacked for treason by Theresa May. Made Minister for Education by Boris Johnson
This morning on LBC he came across as a complete simpleton. More so than ever.
I don’t think individual schools have been targeted. I think it’s a case of not trusting the schools and teachers and doing what they know best regardless. It’s been a common theme with this government. Scotland have rowed back and done it right I think. So there’s no way Johnson will do the same because he will see that as weakness.
Here is the link to Williamson. I’m not a fan of Ferrari but even he couldn’t defend the government on this and either can the Daily Mail which tells you something
“Super forecaster” Dom hasn’t lived up to his self proclaimed title.
That, rightly or wrongly though, is just the system.
It’s an argument that cuts to the heart of society.
Should children be penalised for the choices of their parents? Should examination systems, like justice claims to be, be blind?
Is positive discrimination, discrimination nontheless?
It seems that vocal groups are using this debacle to positively skew to their advantage what previously has been a relatively objective assessment.
Universities have begun to bias in selection anyway. This could doubly bias.
Plenty of sharp elbowed middle class parents are moving children privately educated throughout, to state schools to sit A levels to play both sides.
Basically is it wrong to send your kids to the local state school if you can afford not to, and it’s shit?
It is but year groups vary massively. Using my own place as an example, if they were to use the same algorithm for SATS we would have struggled this year because while the past two years have been “good” results ,the two years before that (16 and 17) weren’t great. This is due to a number of reasons including % of SEND , new arrivals (refugees essentially) , EAL and then the usual issues that face school. It’s been the same teacher in there for those four years. I don’t know how far Ofqual gone back.
Teachers and schools will have examples of children’s work so if Ofqual suspected tinkering with the grades they could have just queried it with schools.
He left out raab and Johnson. And the rest. He must have run out of letters.
Ferrari takes no shit.
And if they kept the old way of coursework and not focus on one exam, this wouldn’t have happened as coursework is due in December. Same for Gove scrapping AS.
Yeah, that’s why I asked Fenners - I’d listen to a teacher above others - but the mob , @Gman and co, came wading in and got their way.
Coursework was scrapped as it was thought to favour the middle class unduly iirc?
Personally I think it was much better than throwing everything into a single day.
He told you he didnt wish to discuss it on here, surely you could respect the mans wishes? Why do you push in such a manner?
I dont believe I’ve pushed him… I’m gonna take it easy here as Laois need our full support presently.
