My daughter goes here. School sent out an email before Xmas offering naming rights to highest bidder. Thought it very corny approach tbh but they’re trying to raise money any way they can.
You’d hope someone with deep pockets buys the rights and names it after a founding principal or something rather than some tacky business name going on it

What’s the logic behind the increasing encroachment into the month of August for back to school? I can only ever really get away in August so it’s a serious dose.
My daughter is starting in first year this Friday with some half day induction day before starting school proper Wednesday of the following week. She doesn’t want to miss this induction day so we’re traipsing home from holidays on Thursday night. I heard of a few schools in Waterford that had first year induction days on Monday of this week. Back to school on 19th August.
Is the rationale to rack up a load of school days with these half day induction days in August for the week long mid term skiing breaks in February and another mid-term in May?

I hear you, the last week of August was always our holiday week. Our daughter is starting secondary school on Monday 26th this year.

But sure on the other hand people are saying the summer holidays are too long 
id say it is to rack up days for during the year as even the teachers find the summer too long
The same people making these decisions as those who inflicted the split season on us.

Three months is some stretch to be off for. Stay in for longer into June rather than encroaching back into August if they are looking to shorten it.

School in August is cruelty to children. There’s such a mean spirited to it. The people who decide that school should take place in August are capable of any cruelty, even holocaust.
