The Sea the Stars appreciation thread

Some day forecast tomorrow, Iā€™d love to be there, the way the Autumn sunshine comes through the Tree branches and sort of dances, strolling on the avenue down to the races from Port Mailliot

I actually spent a few nights in Chateauroux during he summer, where he came from and I was laughing to myself as I said it in my head after a few pints of strong french beer

Frankel is 275k

Heā€™s gone to 350k :grinning:

Scary money. Sure who can afford that cover like? Basically a very small pool of mares. I suuppose itā€™ll keep the percentages very high

A lot of old money/owner breeder types that want to win Classics and arenā€™t bothered as much about seeing money back. There must be a load of those Dubawi & Frankel horses donā€™t come up for sale at all.

The likes of the Lloyd Webber crowd with Gosden, their broodmare band is so good, twould be wrong to send them anywhere else.

They ended up getting that good colt the other year, Two Darn Hot by Dubawi, now 65k a pop and flying it, so that will pay for a lot.

STS could be suffering from being so closely related to Galileo as most of the best recent European fillies must have a bit of Galileo on one side or another.

Nathaniel seems to be a very underrated sire.

Thereā€™s a lot of inbreeding back to galileo, he must have been reared in Tipperary

Hugely, Bolger is a big proponent of it and has had big success but think some people donā€™t like it too close.

STS is the value there, not that it will ever effect me!

In the 80s, at the end of his stud career, Northern Dancer was $1m a pop, with no live foal guarantee.

Think the books were smaller then but that is still mental.

He would have only been getting 30 mares a season towards the end, so they were prized possessions. His yearlings were selling for crazy money at the time.

Everything was gone nuts at that time. I think it was Robert Sangsters book I read which gave a lot of info on it.
