The Sea the Stars appreciation thread

The commentary is always spine tingling but I just love the way Kinanne waited and waited and waited and when there even a bit of a gap he was through it before it was even a full gap. He knew the horse would take him through

Longevity would be a mark against him but far outweighed by six group ones in six months, 4 of them against older horses in championship races. Always felt he just did what he had to as well.

‘Perfection in equine form, the horse of a lifetime’. The greatest racehorse of all time and it’s not even close

Coolmore for all their mula never had anything near as good as STS. They had the balls to race him too distance, country didn’t matter a fuck. Thats why he is widely acknowledged as the GOAT unlike Frankel who spent most of his career making out with cotton wool

I just wish they sent him to the Breeders Cup that year. They didn’t need to but it would have been class to see him stuff the best of the American horses.

6 group ones over 8 to 12 including a guineas a derby and an arc not enough you greedy bollix

Ah it was only cos I was there for it and would have loved to have seen it. It would never be worth the risk and they had nothing left to prove.

The biggest thing that year was choosing the Eclipse over the Curragh. The Irish derby had been wobbling for a while, that was probably the knock out blow

We’ll have every single thread ever made on here bumped by the time this lockdown is done. :grinning: Assuming it ever is

Kinane was some man to find a gap.

It wouldn’t surprise me. Cape cross as a sire produced horses that improved through out their three year old career. A lot of Galileos seem to peak in high summer as three year olds. It’s noteworthy both Galileos arc wins came as older horses who peaked for arc day and that the was an outlier to The rest of their seasons.

Only chance Frankel had would have been the mile at Newmarket, even then STS would have gutted it out imo.

The Judmontte and the Irish champion when the mafia threw the kitchen sink at him and couldn’t even get a glove on him, what a horse

STS time in the Guineas was over a second faster than Frankel on similar ground
