Once it was clear what had happened any other police force would have flooded the area with public order units as a prophylactic and nipped anti social behavior in the Bud.

FFG are in government. If you’re asking why they allowed that to happen last night then you need to ask those that vote for them. Resouces are there for Gardai when needed. Water protests were the most heavily policed activities in my lifetime. Armed rezponse out in various places. Those who were under most threat last night were working class. Where were the ARU? Not even a riot squad. Every man and his dog knew what would happen.

Its absolute bullshit they ahev to deal with day to day. Add in they are not getting much support other than soundbites and empty promises withoit no action on the actual issues they raise. It was only 6 weeks ago there was going to be a blue flu. The gardai are getting a very raw deal for a very tough job. Lack of reasources, poor pay in relative terms (add in cost of living in the last 18 months) and the roaster issue was a joke

The average Garda pension is worth over 1m for a private sector person to buy it. I agree re all PS pensions. Not sustainable
