The Sing Song Thread

Count your blessings

I was at a wedding 20 years ago which had a sing song of Oasis songs, it was brilliant, don’t know whether those songs would go down so well today.

Songs I hate;
Green fields of France
We’re on the one road
Danny Boy

Songs I occasionally sing;
Grace
Rock The Kasbah
Where’s me Jumper
Give me a nail and a hammer
Rocky Road to Dublin
What’s the use of having a wife
Ordinary man
Black is the Colour
Me Mammy had a rabbit and she thought it was a duck
Dublin in the rare aul times

At the time uncle Benji was a policeman in Brooklyn…

I hope you put on the accent for where’s me jumper.
What’s the bit of Latin?

It was the voice of James Connolly, the Irish rebel.

Our hope is in god and Rory O’Moore…

I like my liquor and my living hard, as all the world can see…

Have an uncle in his mid sixties who’s go to song is Lou Begas Mambo No.5, once that’s finished he rolls into Perfect 10 by the Beautiful South. Always gets a strange look from the punters

When I was younger I used to do Get on Up I feel like A Sex Machine by James Brown as my party piece.

Bland Anecdote Alert

Mrs. Fran’s brother is a bit of a whizz on the guitar and he gets rolled out at every social occasion which can get extremely tedious. In fairness to him he is very enthusiastic, willing and talented and does a cracking version of Psycho Killer, Blackbird, Faith, Call me Al and a few more.

Keep it simple. Sean south always works. A particular favourite of mine was a couple of years back at Cheltenham, being at a drinking table which included a current TD and his guests, two lesser known British MPs. He stood up and did a fine version including the intro. The two boyos did not know where to look. They knew the song alright.

Willy must be a great man in a singsong

Not him.

Not the Sinn Fein TD either I’d say as he doesn’t seem the type.
Must have been Nialler.

Thought it was the Kilteely clique

Always note that dubs of certain age love ā€œthe steet where you liveā€.

If some can deliver the ā€œValley of Knockanureā€ it is really beautiful and haunting .

Wrong words but I guess that’s all part of a sing song

Brilliant song

I’m not a Dub but the rare auld times is my favourite song song tune
