I think Irish 80s music is my favourite genre
The oul cancer is great for staying in shape. I could probably use a dose of it myself before summer-time.
Thereās certainly some good stuff there Thraw, but Minor Detail were utter shite (and I fucking hate mime artitsts). I read a one line review of them once, I think in the Evening Herlad (the older brother who knew a lot about Irish music at the time showed me) which went basically "Minor Detail, Baggot Inn (or wherever) - Apt name for this ābandā.
One track I canāt find anywhwre - The Subterraneans - Slum
Has anyone seen it?
Ah that song is deadly. Minor Detail are pure Alan Patridge though.
Is the Subterraneanās track Irish? I know a man from Wexford who would have it, if so.
It is indeed, they were a one hit wonder, but its a very good song.
I requested sometime TFK poster niggledy bits to post it up somewhere. Iāll keep you informed.
Iāve posted quite a bit of it over the long and winding course of this thread.
Post it again so you lazy sod. You hardly expect me to trawl through the pages of Pukeās Jessie J shite to find it now do you.
Forever in your debt Thraw. Have you listened to it?
I forgot about that photo of them as well, which at the time many thought was taken by Anton Corbijn as a pisstake on the Joshua Tree photos.
Iāve been singing this all day, class tune.

I did of course, itās brilliant. Very interesting sound they had, I have to say. Amazing outro. Seems to me the 80s was a bit of an (unheralded) golden age for Irish music. At least the bands had a bit of balls to them, until the shite singer-songwriter stuff that became so dominant from the mid to late 90s right up to James Vincent McMorrow (who I actually quite like but heās hardly someone youād get fanatical about like Microdisney et al)
[quote=āThrawneen, post: 169433ā]Any of our slightly older posters remember this song? (Obviously not the really elderly like Fagan and Boxty). These lads were from Sligo and played Self Aid in Dalyer. Only heard it this week for the first time and I think itās absolutely brilliant.

I remember that. Time flies.
