The Snooker Thread (Part 1)

Selby is an infinitely better player than Dott.

When he is on reasonable form.

Vafaei has a bit of a mouth on him sometimes. I was hoping Peifan would beat him just to see him cry. It’s a fair point that it’s not good for the game with the same old faces turning up but there is a changing of the guard happening this year. The young guys need to show that they are worth it.

Yes. But I want a 1:58am finish between two dour fuckers who won’t give a millimetre. I want the sheer Free Presbyterian misery of it.

That Friday night session between Selby and Bingham in last year’s semi-final was one of the greatest things I have ever witnessed.

The safety battles, the re-racks, the shithousery of it.

A few cracking games there.

Winnable first round tie for Matthew Stevens.

Wilson v Ding, Murphy v Maguire, O’Sullivan v Gilbert are all excellent ties.

Selby to win it? Interesting. Predicting Vafaei to reach the semis.

that vafaei got incredibly lucky last night as the other chap missed a simple pot to win. he just isn’t consistant enough for me. i could easily see him beating trump and then losing to mcgill. Ronnie has arguably the easiest quarter to win so would be favourite in my book on that basis.

Ronnie has the hardest quarter imho.

Gilbert is a tough starter. Only Ding is tougher I’d say.

he has never beaten ronnie. A lot of the older guys beat themselves against him. Ronnie always beats ding too.

Saying all that i would love either ding or lisowski to win but you would have to be super optimistic to see it happen!

I think Trump will hammer Vafei.

Lisowski could get a run. Think Ding loses first round

Judd deffo vulnerable. He is a slow starter and that combined with poor form (relative to what he can play) makes an upset likely.
