Stephen Maguire beat Judd Trump 6-4 to set up a second round meeting with Shaun Murphy. The Glasgow potter lost the first two frames and needed a snooker in the third to stop himself from going 3-0 down. He got the snooker and played brilliantly from then on to record a fine victory.[/QUOTE]
Always interesting when Maguire and Murphy meet. They really don’t like each other.
Higgins in with a chance for a 147 here, 9 reds and 9 blacks potted and he’s in prime position.Higgins had to stop and ask ref Jan Verhass if he was on for the maximum as Allen had given up 14 points in fouls before he potted his first red.
Higgins was in but missed a plant and Allen stepped in to clear up and win 6-4. Very high quality game. I don’t like Allen though, and I hope the winner of tonight’s game between Ding Junhui and Joe Perry beats him in the 1/4 final.
Unbelievable frame just there. Ding looked to have it in the bag as Perry needed three snookers. Perry snookered him on the green then Ding incredibly hit the black and left a free ball, Perry cleared up and nicked the frame by one point and leads 4-2.
Perry misses a yellow to win the frame and then plays a poor shot on the pink when he got a second chance. 4-3 now, Ding showed a lot of bottle to win that.
