A real life Columbus stand off

Anthony ‘A.J.’ Soprano Jr.:
It says, in this book, that Christopher Columbus was a slave trader.

Anthony ‘Tony’ Soprano Sr.:
So, you finally read a book and it’s bullshit!

It’s strange how identity - which has become wrapped up in nationalism / nationality in the last 150 years - makes human’s tick. Even more strange when it comes to Americans and how Irish/ Italian/ Polak they are

Yeah Tony ponders what happens when you die on the Stugots boat and I think he pretty much said that everything just went black and Bobby said you dont even hear it coming which is what happened at the end. There are other references to black and death being bedfellows when AJ was studying a Robert Frost poem with Meadow etc. I’m not sure who was responsible for Tonys demise. Could it have been Patsy? New York… I think it all goes back to Eugene and his wife who wanted to move to Florida in the episode members only. Eugene was wearing a members only jacket and Vito made fun of him for doing so. It was a very pointed reference. Assassin in Holstens in made in America was earing a members only jacket as well. The last hit Eugene carried out was in a diner wearing a members only jacket of a man with initials TS. I remember reading as well that the final shot in members only is an overhead shot of Tony losing consciousness after being shot by Junior and opening scene in Made in America is exact same shot with organ music like you would get at a funeral. The members only episode foreshadows a lot of what happened in the last episode.

Worth watching both of them concurrently rather than 15 or 16 episodes apart or whatever it is because they run into each other and overlap quite a bit. Almost like they were shot together.

There’s only two ways out for guys like us - in the can or in the morgue … that was referenced a couple of times. And every time Tony was happy or things were going good - bam, a huge bomb would drop.

Still, I’d hate to think of poor Meadow heat broken and crying into her pillow every night - so for her sake i choose to believe Tony didnt die .

Surely it’s not relevant whether he died or not. The show was never about endings.

But if he was killed I often thought that Patsy would be involved. He seemed to knuckle down into Tony’s crew after his brother was killed and seemed to be waiting for his chance.

I’m not too bother bro – as the song at the end said - it’s about the journey - dont stop believing… Could be Patsy - he saw what could be his when Tony invited him and the wife around … but then, it was looking like he was gonna be family as his son was serious with meadow so he didnt have to make a move - why be boss when you could be family and cosy up that way… I thought Patsy made his peace with that road myself - while he’d never get over it, he knew he couldnt go down that road. But the landscape changes rapidly in that world.

What a fucking scene!! The angry nose breathing is sensational.

Great scene that. That was after Carmella told Tony that “his friends” laugh at his stupid jokes.

Feech has a puss on him then in the background.
