Just finished series 5. Going back to watch series 1 before I go on to series 6. Series 1. S1 ep 1 is savage. Carmella having a super whack off Tony before he goes into his MRI and the holding his leg as he goes in. And then the ‘coolest’ hit in the whole series, Christopher wacking the guy in the meat shop while he does a line off the meat cleaver. Well at odds with how horrible most of the kills are. Redeemed by him trying trying to get rid of the body with Pussy. Failing miserably to fuck it into a skip.

Gandolfini spoke years ago about the characters of Livia and Junior and how they were the mark of the utter brilliance of the show. ‘Who writes, or has ever written, old characters like that before?’

The performances were top notch. The look on Janice’s face as Richie hit her, and then as she went through what it meant, and the fury rising up inside. Richie’s reaction to the gun, goading her. Aw man.

Richie broke his own rule… Gave Chris a big spiel about putting his hands on Adrienne… Saying he’s old school and that until Chris gives her his name to keep his hands to himself.
He goes then and pops the boss’ sister.
Richie is an incredible character.
