Some scene, thanks for sharing. Richie was a banger, pure and simple. Out of the captains who came and went across the series he was the most psychotic, and that’s saying something.

All of the characters released after long stints in prison (Richie, Feech, Phil Leotardo, Tony Blundetto ) were in some way flawed, angry, embittered and in no way rehabilitated. It’s amazing when you look back and see that the writers were definitely saying something here.
It’s not mentioned much in the dialogue, only in hidden little clues in a handful of scenes, but Phil Leotardo actually did 20 fuckin’ years in the can.

It was Richie. They were going at it on the couch, him with the gun to her temple and she says “you should be the boss”. He stops and gets annoyed.
Ties into what you mentioned earlier about the twisted structure they’re in, he thinks nothing of holding a gun to his partners head while having sex (or committing seriously violent acts) but is seemingly rattled at the mere suggestion of challenging The Boss.
