Fair point…who’d be known as the biggest betting yard both flat and jumps?

SS would have better knowledge of this that myself, but I’d reckon Charlie Burns yard would be right up there (jumps). Had a friend working there for a while and they landed some huges bets, he never led me wrong with his tips anyways.

Charlie would be a major punter but it’s very, very hard to make it pay no matter how good you are. Charlie’s horses ended up being over bet at times and trying to get the money down is the biggest problem. The bookmakers are killing the game because you can’t get on. In the old days you could go to Sean Graham and have a right lump on or in England you could get on with Pat Whelan or Chandler. Now you can’t get anything on, they say some of the big boys bet underground now against each other as they can’t get on elsewhere, Curley certainly did anyway and who could blame them. The likes of Ladbrokes, Hills and Powers etc only want to recycle dole money, they don’t want anyone who wants a proper bet. They say we’re in the golden era of gambling, we are in our bollocks, we are in the dark ages, sure the margins have tightened but what’s the use when you can’t have a bet. It’s all knockbacks now. It usually doesn’t affect me as my stakes are ordinary but when you can’t even get a hundred quid on something it’s time to pack it in. Anyway I hear Ladbrokes are fcuked so that will cheer alot of people up.

Off topic but I hear Celtic are in bigger trouble now. He’s one of the few that doesnt have an offshore operation to move money through to avoid tax so the increase in the budget is putting deeper holes in his pockets.

have never seen a trainer’s horses drift in the betting so many times and still win than Emma Lavelle’s…had a winner there in ludlow 4.50 that went from 5’s to 10’s and romped home…same at weekend with crack away jack going fom 2/1 fav out to 7/2 before pissing up…mustn’t be a betting stable…

Great example of this happening this evening in Wolverhampton. Compton Court opened and 5’s and drifted out to 15/2 but still won. Well worth the trip across for John Carr. Commentator said that there was a decent bit of money for it earlier in the day as well.

Looking forward to seeing if Time Electric reappears this year as well. Was told to watch out for him early last season, and that he was serious machine. It was Christmas before he ran his bumper but won it looking very classy, but never went on to Cheltenham and then flopped in a bumper in Navan.

This lad is going in a maiden hurdle in Thurles tomorrow will have a close eye on him to see how he goes.

The layers are taking no chances with this fella today. Opened at 2/1 and alread 7/4 in spots. With the amount of rain that is falling this way the going should be quiet heavy in Thurles, which may or may not count against him. At that price I’ll be keeping a watching brief.

Keep an eye on the price for see u bob as well. If you see it going down then throw a few quid on it. Have a look at the owner and you’ll understand

yeah was just looking there and i saw 7/4…thought it would be even money or close enough to it…although there are plenty of classy horses in the field if curlin runs anyway decent i can’t see it being beaten…

Looks like Galway could be off tomorrow along with Wexford. It’s been a disasterous year for the tracks. There has been 34 meetings lost this year already due to the weather. It’s a joke, the ones that do go ahead then end being massively over subscribed and fellas can’t runs for there horses.

A horse dealer friend of mine was down at the sales in Goresbridge during the week and he said they couldn’t give the horse away. There were a few race horses that traded hands for 500. I know of a well known trainer has nearly 40 horses on his farm that he bought over the past couple of years and now can’t sell on.

only colonel john or casino drive will bother him, forget about the European horses, O’Brien is out of form and Raven’s Pass more than likely won’t stay, the 3 year olds will be horsed out of it anyway, DOM and Curlin are monsters
