The Sport of Kings & Equine Matters 🐐

Very little racing on today (three meetings) and no evening meetings. Must be the first time in months there’s been no evening racing.

SS** is taking Sledge’s ignorance very badly…

It’s unfathomable stuff, Dunph.

I wonder will Listowel go ahead…

Is it next week or the week after it’s supposed to be on?

Starting on the 13th.
I actually preferred last year when they lost a couple of days. Ended up with a few great cards with all the shitty flat races cut out.

You’re.

:pint:

I see there are a good amount of Irish horses and jockeys over in Ffos Las today…

It must be near a ferry port.

Watched the last couple of races there, decent enough for a friday afternoon in August…Presume they can go over and back the same day on the Ferry so twould suit alright…

I see Gordon Elliot just landed a huge gamble in Down Royal with Dr Kildare. Got in as a reserve and backed from 8’s to 7/4. Over 2/3’s on the money matched in the race on Betfair was on it.

had a winner in Wales today as well

He places them well across the water.

The Welsh track is only about half an hour from Fishguard I think. Elliott has a good record in the UK but he’s had a fair few well fancied horses beaten over the last couple of months as well.

Ffos Las is a beautiful looking course. Despite all the rain there yesterday it didn’t seemed to effect the course in the slightest. I must make it my business to get over there at some stage for a look. They’re getting good racing there too, the place will be a roaring success.

Anyone have any fancies on the beach in laytown this evening?

I’d like to head up to that meeting sometime. Would be a bit of craic I’d say.

The going in Galway yesterday was nearly as bad as I’ve seen it. The amount of spray and dirt they were kicking up was unreal.

Always looks class alright, think it is the only race meet in Europe on a beach…
