Mac Have you had a chance to run your eye over the Scottish Grand National field?

I would fancy Big Occasion but not much juice left in the price at 8s. He was a good bet a week ago at 14s. He meets a lot of trends bar the age stat. this is negated by the fact that he began his career on the flat. The other horse I like is Rebeccas Choice at 20s. Big Occasion beat him last time out in the midlands national. His jumping is a concern, but if he gets around, he will go close.

As an aside, betting post Cheltenham should come with a health warning.

Any mares in the Scottish National worth a flutter?

No, I would have the two horses named above against the field.

Cheers Fenners, I’ll have a wee cut at Rebeccas Choice. I did well out of Chelt but lost an alarming amount of money on the masters golf, swings and roundabouts.

Not yet, will take a look by tomorrow evening

Sprinter being there or not may make or break Punchestown. Please God it starts drying up

I see one of willies top owners, my erstwhile BarCap colleague Mr Ricci is now unemployed. Hope hel still be able to keep the few horses!

Sprinter Sacre confirmed to run in Punchestown

I might head up Tuesday for that. There’s a booze bus going from home but that might be best avoided

Do it. :pint:

Just looking through the Scottish National now. Trying to keep it simple as I’m fucked tired. I’m ignoring Auroras Encore as I don’t think he’s the machine he needs to be to carry top weight around 2 weeks after winning at Aintree. As I go down through the feel there’s a hell of a lot of dirge that could be anything. This race can be a cunt as there could be a horse lined up for it all year with no form just to fuck you around. Couple that I’d be interested in at fancy prices

Pentiffic - a 10 year who’s not had that many runs. Nice handy weight and if running anyway close to his best is more than capable of going close.
Fill The Power - is much better than he showed in the slog in the Midlands. Doesn’t like winning races going by the number of 2’s in his form but I’ve a massive amount of respect for the jockey and it could be a blessing in disguise
Rebeccas Choice - pretty much same reasons as Fenway

Lots of wishy washy reasoning from me I know but thats it. This is only an appetiser before the main stuff gets going next week.

As an aside, what happened Ben Dalton earlier? Got thrown into a wall in Wexford when a horse had a fatal heart attack. Any clips of it?

grumetti is the only bet i am having this weekend, cant believe its 5/1 in scottich CH

Ifandbutwhynot is the one id fancy in this. You are taking on trust that Grumeti is still a 153 animal after his setback. No doubt he may be better than that but looks short enough all things considered. I’d be pretty sure that ifandbutwhynot is a lot better than 134. The ground went against him in the county and he got a brutal ride. The drying ground will be a huge advantage to him and at 5s he is a decent bet.

yes.i was presuming he’s better than 153…i dont think king would bring him back now unless he thought there was serious prize in him

He will probably have a campaign on the flat during the summer. Personally, I would leave him off and bring him back in the autumn. King yard in great form, but so too is O’Mearas.

doubt it…they didnt last year, i think the 2 flat races show he’s not got any ill effects due to the injury…liked him last year

Ben Dalton was lucky to come out of Wexford unscathed this evening.
Horrific incident.
