The Sport of Kings & Equine Matters šŸ

I was waiting for you to chirp in, no reason to think HF wonā€™t hammer her for pace. The best raw piece of CH form weā€™ve seen was the fighting fifth. The 3rd horse that day beaten 25l is no mug

Grumeti? They beat him 50l at Kempton, heā€™s nowhere near this level. MTOY has done all asked of him this season but if he could not beat Champagne Fever last year then believe me heā€™s not going to beat Hurricane Fly this year.
The New One poses the only realistic threat to the Champ, I think he would have beat MTOY the last day, he might make a race of it anyway, the rest of them have no chance.

I agree with most of that but you canā€™t write off our Conor , when dessie Hughes says heā€™ll improve at che you have to take that at face value as he knows his horses. MTOY will trade very low but would tend to agree with you wrt finding it off the back of the last home . Samentegal was the horse I was talking about

Before yesterday I believe McCoy was favouring Jezki over MTOY. Read into that what you will.

That is wholly untrue Mac.

Not based on what I was told. Iā€™m sure yesterday will have changed his mind anyway.

HF ran to 163 sat, nearly a stone below his bestā€¦now what do ye think?

I thought the tactics on Jezki were mind boggling to be honest. He was ridden to beat Hurricane Fly for a change of toe.

Jezki looks like a horse that would be better winding up the pace from the front. The fact that there is no confirmed frontrunner in the Champion would have made yesterday an ideal place to try out that tactic.

What did he run on Sunday? If Hurricane Fly was at his best then thereā€™d be no discussion about the champion hurdle. Its impossible for him to be at his peak anymore in my view which is why the others have a chance. If he wins this year it makes his achievements even more remarkable if thats possible.

Agreed, he obviously gets further so donā€™t know why they didnā€™t leave him off out the front. He doesnā€™t have a turn of foot.

Where are you getting this?

Nothing wrong with running to 163 at this time of year. Horses are not looking to peak until Champion Hurdle in March.

If Willie Mullins had him ready to run to 173 yesterday, then he is a poor trainer.

IMHO, Our Conor improved about 7-8 pounds from his last run. I suspect there is similar improvement (and maybe a bit more) to come between now and March. That will definitely put him bang there.

I couldnā€™t agree more. Let him out in front, itā€™ll be a tactical race anyway.

AP thought Jezki was a ā€˜slowā€™ horse before yesterday, he definitely wasnā€™t favouring it over the Tent, that was just a misplaced rumour. The champion hurdle will be some race, I canā€™t wait for it and plan to be there on the Tuesday. For what itā€™s worth I think if Un De Sceaux runs heā€™ll take a bit of beating. I know heā€™s not beat much but the pace he goes is deadly. Heā€™ll go from the front and nothing else will live with him. The better the ground the better heā€™ll be, itā€™s almost frightening.

I got it on at the races(timeform)ā€¦the form stinks to high heaven,CCB is 13 FFS.
5-6 lbs improvement is what you would get . a stone, get up they yard, HF ran to 171 in same race last year
buyer beware

Big Bucks 20lbs off his bestā€¦

un de seaux is scaryā€¦his pun novice win was unbelievableā€¦its a pity himself and annie power are with mullins

That was timeformā€™s opinion earlier on ATR. Wouldnā€™t say itā€™s gospel at all. This whole argument that ā€œCaptain Cee Bee was withing 3 lengthsā€ is utter rubbish. That was a result of the way the race was run, it was a sprint from the back of the last.

Willie Mullins doesnā€™t often make mistakes but running UDS over hurdles at the back end of last season was madness, had he not run in those races heā€™d be 1/3 for the supreme! Iā€™ve backed UDS NRNB, my only worry is that Mullins avoids beating Hurricane Fly with one of his own.

he was close on both races TTK, thatā€™s the problem !

I donā€™t agree with UDS. No horse can win a Champion Hurdle having won a few tin pot races like he has. Heā€™s too hard on himself early in his races still. Would be great to see him run all the same.

his hurdling would prob undo himā€¦ in the CH .but I suspect the mad bastard could keep goingā€¦he looks a freak

Would you have fancied Silvinaco Conte for King George after his run in Betfair?
