Fooking disaster.
Legged it home from work and now this.
No Home and Away episode on today. Disgraceful.

That was a very unexpected blow. Back on tomorrow though.
Fooking weak first half anyway. A day’s break and then back to relationships. Crap.
It’s shit today - that’s why I’m on the laptop during it.
I’m not sure you’ll want to read on here. I’m quite emotional about the whole thing:
It was announced in Australia in the early hours of this morning that one of the two remaining original cast members of Home and Away, Kate Ritchie who plays Sally Fletcher, is leaving the show after 20 years. Her final scenes will be shot in December.
I’m delighted. she is a nosy do-gooder up to no good. i had hoped she would die a couple of months back when she got stabbed

I can’t believe what I just read there.
I’m going to do a poem in honour of her.
Absolute bullshit Gerry.
This is a horrible, horrible today. However every cloud has a silver lining and I’m holding out hope that her exit from the Bay will bring that gobshite Brad with her.

Last year at Home and then it’s away for long-time Sally
From The Sydney Morning Herald:
After 19 years on Home and Away , the actress will film her last scenes for the show in December.

In 1988 Kate Ritchie, then aged 10, auditioned for the role of Sally Fletcher on the soap opera Home and Away , with her mum Heather by her side. At 6.30am yesterday Ritchie, now 29, arrived at the Sunrise studio in Martin Place to announce her plan to quit the show, her mother again at her side.
“It’s funny. My parents are the opposite of stage parents. They haven’t pushed themselves onto my career at all throughout the 20 years, but it was like those two moments were bookends. It was really nice having Mum there,” she said.
Audiences have watched Ritchie transform from a little girl with an imaginary friend into Australia’s sweetheart. She will film her final scenes in December, and will be seen on air until April. Yesterday, her only emotion was relief.
“Home and Away is a huge part of who I am, and what I am going to do next is not my worry. It’s more how I function without what has been my greatest comfort. I will forever hold all my years on Home and Away very dear, but I am a 29-year-old woman who has been doing the same job for 20 years, and it’s just time for a change.”
Ritchie says she has no immediate plans, although she has an interest in architecture and design, as well as directing, writing and continuing to work as an actress: “There are so many things I am interested in at this stage, but I am going to wait and see what comes my way.”
Before announcing her plans, Ritchie said, she discussed the decision with her boyfriend, friends and family.
“I came to the decision earlier in the year and I guess when you say it out loud it becomes real,” she said. “I have never once felt like this was the wrong decision. It’s not something I decided overnight - it’s been a long time coming.”
More worrying for the Home and Away star will be her last day on set, which she says will be “a very difficult day for me What I will probably be most sad about is having to say goodbye to Sally Fletcher, as silly as that may sound.”
She is also uncertain about being unemployed in an industry that has an unemployment rate of about 98 per cent. “The thought of unemployment has not really entered my head at this point, and I certainly didn’t want to make the decision to stay with Home and Away for another 10 years out of fear. I have faith the universe will look after me.”
Big episode today.
{slide=spoiler}Confused the feck out of me at the start because I couldn’t figure out what was going on but they were doing one of those episodes where they give you the story out of sequence.
Anyway Brad proposed to Sally who promptly turned him down, fair play to her. Fitzy told Martha that Jack still likes her. Pippa’s back in town for a surprise party for Sally for the engagement and then they were all due to head off on Alf’s boat together. Of course once Sally said no everything was put on hold. In the end the lads decided they’d head out together anyway - Alf, 'Ric, Jack, Dan and Brad.
They were expecting rain but what they got was a storm. The boat didn’t return as expected and Irene, Sally, Pippa, Leah and Martha are waiting in the Surf Club for news. Sally is upset because she’s blaming herself. Leah’s upset because it’s her anniversary with the drip. There’s no news for a while and then Colleen comes in to say the rescue team have made contact.
They found the boat that’s semi-capsized but can’t rescue the lads yet due to the weather. There’s one problem though - there are only 4 men left at the boat. Looks like we’ve lost one.
Praying for Dan or Brad, fearing it’s Ric or Alf. I’d take Jack as a compromise only if we get another copper because the police scenes are some of the best and where we once had Peter and Jack it would be awful to be left with nobody. Also I don’t think I could take more moaning from Martha.

Any chance of a synopsis of this week’s episodes? Not likely to see the omnibus.
Can’t really divide them into the various episodes because I watched 3 of them back to back last night so can’t remember which was which.
Anyway re: the boating accident (I presume you’ve read the spoiler above).
The boat came ashore and the ladies were lined up on the beach waiting for them. It became apparent that were indeed only 4 people on board. Irene spotted Mr Stewart and then Sally spotted Ric Brad. Then Leah saw Dan and my heart sank. Next Sally spotted Ric and camera cut to Martha looking all downbeat. They all ran forward and hugged eachother and Martha asked what happened Jack - turned out he hadn’t gotten on the boat.
Martha was relieved and went looking for Jack to tell him she loves him. Jack was away in the city or something on an urgent call so Martha left it be. She did meet Lucas looking suspicious though. Then the scene switched to a hospital in the city and Jack walked in. Lying in the bed was that bird whose name escapes me - physio nurse from the hospital being chased by an ex-husband. Anyway she had broken her leg and Rory (her son) had given the doctors Jack’s name and number. Jack got there and told yer wan to come back and live with him. She accepted. There’s a new actor playing the kid and he’s fierce annoying.
Matilda was still hanging out with her new surfer mates down the coast. Ruben (?) tried to score her again but she pushed him away. Can’t remember if it was this week or last but Ric and Tony went down to get her to come back and thought she was riding Ruben in the van. Turned out to be another chick though. Yesterday Ruben’s mother called despite him telling Matilda that she had died recently - and hence why they were mates. Matilda got mad at him and stormed off. Not sure what happened then because my recording cut out at 19:01 and RT were running about 4 or 5 minutes late.
Other than that Drew’s mother is interfering in his relationship with Belle. She allowed Belle to sleep over but then told Belle she thought they should be seeing other people so Belle left.
The main other story revolves around the country kids - sorry I’m useless with names. That rugby playing guy was feeling all isolated from his teammates and Tony told him to fight his own battles so he tried to hang around with the rest of the guys. They got him drunk and locked him in the boot of Tony’s car where he spent the night.
Oh and Lucas was stalking that teacher one again but it was apparently only to write a story about their relationship. She wanted to take out an AVO against him but she asked to read the story and apparently it’s really good so she forgave him and it’s water under the bridge now.
As I said I missed yesterday’s ending so there may have been developments in any of those story lines but I’d guess it’s just Mattie coming back to the Bay.
Basically once Mattie found out the guy had lied about his mother it all dawned on her. She hadn’t really wanted to leave Ric or The Bay just her actual house because it had very painful memories for her after her ugly hag of a mother croaked it. Then it cut to a scene with Ric arriving home from work and jeering Cassie about Sally finding out she went on the hop. Then Cas told him she skipped school to visit Mattie down the coast and Ric asked how she was and Cas said to ask her himself. Then Mattie walked in from out the back. I reckon her and Ric will move in together now. As an aside Mattie was looking rodiculously hot in yesterday’s episode. I have fallen for her again.
Great stuff. I knew it was only a phase you were going through. After all you’ve been by her side since she was 12 or so. They’d do well to move in together alright. Nothing to keep Mattie at home, living with her ex-boyfriend and his father.
She decided on Friday that she wants to move into Sal’s gaff with Ric. So there’s gonna be Sal and Brad, Alf, Cassie, Ric and Mattie. Sal, Brad and Tony have temporarily put a veto on things but it’s only a matter of time before it happens I imagine.
As an aside I think it’s odd that Alf still lives there. He moved in unannounced to support Sal in the wake of Flynn’s demise (remember that cracking scene where he just arrived with his suitcase and hugged Sal) but now she’s moved on with that idiot Brad so he should move back into his flat above the diner surely.
Yeah not sure why Alf is still living there. And why didn’t he get a say in whether Mattie could move in or not? I reckon if it comes to it then Ric will offer to move out and move in with Mattie in a flat somewhere. What’s the story with that place Noah used to live in with Hayley? That would be ideal.
Didn’t Sarah Lewis burn it down or something?
I’m sure there’s some other rented accomodation in the Bay where a young couple starting out could live.
I always loved that about Home and Away. You always had characters who were about 16 years old, like Noah and Hayley at the time, and they were in the equivalent of 5th year in school yet living together as a couple.
I think it’d be smashing if Ric and Mattie and Drew and Belle moved into a house share situation.
{slide=spoiler}Lets just hope Sally gets over the jumping yer man at the altar - probably the best course of action with all that was going on in the background.
Truly tragic.{/slide}

Truly tragic.
A pathetic attempt to ruin upcoming storylines for those of us watching outside Australia.
Hang your head in shame.
