'Ric convinced Mr Stewart to convince Martha to let Mattie move in above the Diner. Fair call all round I think.
Tony was hospitalised after that blow to the face on Friday evening. Jack asked him who did it and he said “Bruce Campbell.” Jack went out there and spoke to Jeff who didn’t know where Bruce was. Bruce was picked up in town then and brought to the station. He lied about where he was.
Jeff knew his alibi was false and told Tony. Tony then figured that it must have been Bruce alright. But in a meandering coversation with Rachel he discovered that Bruce had actually had a hospital appointment the night before. Jack dropped Rory off with Martha (he was minding him because Sam had an appointment with the specialist) and headed off to the farm to speak to Bruce. He asked him why he lied and Bruce explained that he didn’t want to worry his kids by speaking about his heart condition.
So Jack told Bruce he was no longer a suspect but wondered aloud who’d want to attack Tony. Then Bruce suggested it might be someone who was looking for someone else but Tony got in the way. The penny dropped: Shane. He rang Sam who said that Shane had gotten out of prison on day release but absconded (some police liaison officer had told her) so he knew that it was Shane after Sam and Rory and not someone after Tony. Raced back to town and tried to reach Martha on the phone but she wasn’t answering. She had told Rory to help Alf outside and Alf gave him some stuff to put in the bin. Meanwhile a woman in a surf club t-shirt (I think) asked him to help put some stuff in the back of a van. As Rory approached she shoved him in and he was dragged in from the inside and the van pulled off.
If you’re driving around the coast tonight it’s a green van you should keep an eye out for. Didn’t get a great description of it but it’s an old contraption and probably contains a male and female passenger.
Smashing stuff. Obviously I missed it tonight but I can’t believe how evil that Shane Deeks is. Good bit of scriptwriting too in fairness - it was set up to look like Bruce Campbell or Aidan, the disaffected rugby player, did it. I now predict that Bruce will pass away in the medium term and then Geoff (please note correct spelling as per official Home and Away site) and Annie will have to be taken in by either Irene, Sally or Tony. They’re good kids though so I’d say there’ll be plenty of demand for both of them.
{slide=speculation}This isn’t a spoiler but it’s future speculation so just hiding it from those who like to predict plots themselves. Mrs Rock pointed out the other day that Annie was in the new opening credits in the frame beside Sally which suggests that’s her ultimate destination. Didn’t spot Geoff but wasn’t paying attention till Mrs Rock pointed that out.{/speculation}
Cheers for the recent updates rock. Indeed I suspected the disaffected rugby player too. Some smashing writing it’s true.
Looking forward to Mattie growing up a bit now. Was disappointed with Sally’s decision not to let her stay there and the lack of understanding shown by Tony.
Bit of a disgrace yesterday with Brad crying because he wants a big wedding and Sal doesn’t. Today Brad called Mr. Fisher, Don, which really wrangled with me. What an imposter that chap is. Mr. Fisher has his revenge though. Excellent stuff.
I’m heartened by the thoughts of a new character in the Bay. The couple of references to Hank Van something sounded promising yesterday. I know nothing of the guy but he sounds like he has a bit of a past anyway which is always good.
Anyone know what’s going on with the hospital attacker? One or two references in the past fortnight but no action - I think they’re teasing us and that storyline will explode.
Missed it last night as I was in work until 7.30pm
I also didn’t see the episode where the hospital bint was attacked (Julie?) but I have a theory on who’s behind it.
I think it’s Dom, the guy that selling stolen car parts to Drew and who poured the acid on Ric when they both worked at the mechanics. It’s nothing other than a hunch but I think I’m onto something.
Could well be Dom alright. That guy is no good. That’s for sure. Cracking character though who should be more involved. There’s a tendency recently to get rid of the sinister characters once they’ve been exposed - even that teacher wan who scored Tony and Lucas (Christ I’m useless with names).
It was way better when people like Angie would hang around for months terrorising the Bay. Too many dodgy characters are written out of the storyline too quickly now.
Hank or Henk Van something is going to be Brad’s best man. Rachel had a grave look on her face when she found out. Then she rang Sally to check Brad’s address book for a number for Hank/Henk and rang him to leave a message to absolutely not come to the Bay. Hope he ignores it whoever he is. Brad also mentioned something about him being a changed person since he went on a trip around Asia.
Yeah, Cesc4 and Jugs gave me a episode overview last night. We speculated that Hank tried to force himself on Rachel in the past but she didn’t report him to police as she knew it would kill Brad.
The teacher was Naomi by the way.
Agree on the point about the more evil characters - keeping them around makes for good storylines with ‘town meetings’ in the Surf Club and Alf going on the war path about their behaviour. Mayor Josh West was the prime example. We should be due another ‘property developer arrives in the Bay and wants to build a motorway through The Caravan Park’ storyline now. Think it’s usually every 18 months or so this crops up.
Have only seen it now and again lately so I was playing catch up.
It was my first sighting of Henk and I wasn’t disappointed. Yesterday he got ridiculously drunk apparently. Martha approached him and asked, ‘Do you want to tell me what last night was really all about?’ When Henk replied there was no particular reason Martha asserted that ‘Nobody writes themselves off to that extent unless they have serious issues.’ I must have very serious issues in that case.
Henk then opened up (as oftens happens in Australian seaside based dramas) and said he’d done things in his past that he couldn’t forgive himself for. He said, ‘I’ve tried all sorts - meditation, retreats and even self denial.’ It simply doesn’t get any better than that.
Then the scenes in the school involving Fisher, Cassie, Aden (note the spelling) and Rory were sublime. The exchange between Cassie and Don in act 2 of today’s episode was immense. I’m on record as saying some of the show’s greatest ever moments have centred around the japes, high jinks and escapades of the students in the local school and I emphasised this point particularly a month or two back during a barren phase when there were several overlapping storylines of quite a low quality such as the Kim, Kit and Rachel love triangle and the ridiculously drawn out revenge mission by Kelly against her sister, Amanda.
The return of Donald Fisher appears to have given the show a superb shot in the arm. The members of the executive production team who brought this about deserve our utmost praise and respect as today’s offering was definitely worthy of the standing ovation it received in my house. Bravo. Bravo indeed.
Just finished watching it and it was an almighty fine episode today. Cassie and Fisher screaming at eachother was superb. Rewinded it and watched that scene again such was the emotional impact.
Then the rapist with the heart of gold comforting Cassie in the store room at the end was a cracking ending. Henk is a smashing character. Full of new age wisdom and mystery but underneath it all he’s a mean bastard.
Even enjoyed Rory today. Hate that little shit with a passion so it was great to see Don dishing him out 2 weeks’ detention for his role in the vote rigging. Don might be a little unsure of himself sometimes but he’s still not going to take any shit from a little baby like Rory.
