Zverev breaks to love.

Double break.

Rafa looks fairly out of sorts and out of ideas as to how to cope with Zverev.

Utterly, utterly sensational tennis from Thiem here.

He is serving for the match here.

Djokovic breaks back, deciding tie break.

Thiem has been utterly sensational though, doesn’t deserve to lose this.

That’s one of the greatest defensive points I’ve ever seen from Djokovic there.

Past the point of no return now for Thiem, too cavalier at the crucial points.

Incredible from Thiem.

Match point Dominator.

Wow a line call a strand of hair on hawkeye denies Thiem the win.

This is epic.

Thiem wins. 6-7, 6-3, 7-6.

Thiem’s first win over Djokovic on a hard court.

Thiem the first player in the semi finals, Djokovic and Federer will face off for the other semi slot.

Thiem hit 51 winners last night against Djokovic.

By contrast, only one of the other 5 matches had more winners combined than Thiem had against Djokovic, the greatest defensive player to play the game.

Another Nadal Medvedev cracker in store right now. Nadal has stormed back from 1-5 in the final set and it’s gone to a tie break.

1-5 down in the deciding set facing match point?

No problem.

Federer about to hand Nadal to year end no 1.

Grazie.

Federer home in straight sets, his first win over Djokovic in 2015.

Federer joins Thiem and Tsitsipas in the last 4.

Is Djokovic’s reign as the king of hard courts over?

2019 has been a very average season for him on hard courts by his own high standards.

I don’t think he is helped by the likes of Zverev, Tsitsipas, Medvedev and Berrettini all being at their best on hard courts too.

People think it’s an inevitability that Djokovic surpasses Federer and Nadal in the all time slams. I think he could struggle now with next gen promising to deliver. Since Australia he has had a really average year. He was completely outplayed in the Wimbledon final by Federer but just about got over the line.

Next year is going to be extremely interesting.

Looking a Djokovic, he doesn’t seem bothered. I was surprised with his match last night with Federer, I had expected him to beat Federed but it just looked like he was going through the motions. If that was 2018 Djokovic he would have won that match. Something is not right with him at the moment. Be interesting to see how he comes back at the start of season.

I don’t know. He was very good against Thiem but Thiem played extraordinary. His form hasn’t been great since Australia and he now has a lot of threats on hard courts which are his bread and butter.

Djokovic is able to turn it on like a tap a lot better than Nadal and Federer, his form fluctuates much more whereas you can kind of sense better whether Nadal or Federer will do well in a tournament depending how they are playing or have been playing.

Nadal beats Tsitsipas in 3. Still needs Medvedev to do him a favour to go through but will play Federer tomorrow if Medvedev wins.
