He’s a break down in the 4th to bring it to 2-2.
If it’s form I’d say he can turn it around here but the big worry is even after this if you look at the path that lies in front of him, very hard to see him not being drawn into a few battles there.
He has a problem with his hip and went off for an injury time out. It is affecting his forehand. I don’t know if he is hanging in here till whatever was done during the injury time out starts to work.
Djokovic has a history of playing possum before when it comes to injuries/illness.

I’m not sure it’s an injury issue.
He struggled past Tiafoe, he won a third set tie break that could have had he lost he’d have been 2 sets down.

Dimitrov demolished Thiem 6-4 6-4 6-0. Dimitrov is just a ridiculously talented player and close to unbeatable when he’s in full flow like that. A plodder like Thiem doesn’t have the tools to go to that level. Thiem actually threw in the towel 3rd set, tanked it and had a bagel for tea.
Thiem is the world no 3 and US Open Championship. The only player under the age of 30 currently operating who has featured in multiple slam finals.

Thiem won a Covid era zombie US Open that nobody cared about. Nadal as defending champion didn’t even bother turning up for it and gave it a skip as did Federer (who was injured I suppose). Djokovic was thrown out of the tournament for throwing a ball back to a ball boy. Thiem beat nothing to win it. Asterisk alert.
Nadal didn’t travel because of the pandemic.
Handy for Thiem not having to face any of Nadal, Djokovic or Federer to finally fall over the line and win a zombie Grand Slam played behind closed doors. Talk about devalued currency. And to think there’s lads on here denigrating the remarkable achievements of Jurgen Klopp in steering Liverpool to a first league title in three decades because it was.ultimately clinched behind closed doors.
