Nadal beat Federar on grass at federars peak.

End of debate.

I’d be more inclined to listen to the views of Rod Laver than a Nadal fanboy like yourself who has no understanding of the sport. This is the level of insight on tennis that we get from you.

You admitted yourself Wimbledon broke atp protocol to try and shaft Rafa.

The All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club are the guardians and custodians of the sport and have been since 1868.

The ATP are a crowd of paper pushers that were set up in 1972. Who are the ATP to tell @Tassotti and his fellow members how to run a tournament that they’ve been staging with such distinction since 1877.

Jog on now.

So close yet so far for Serena again.

Can’t see her winning another one again as long as the top players are still in it. I was surprised she bet Halep but the likes of Osaka and Barty too strong for her now.

Djokovic breaks to love and will now serve for the opening set

First set Djokovic 6-3

He may as well be serving for the match. This will be over in 3. Djokovic will barely break a sweat and there will be no sign of the injury

Playing possum is a well known tactic down under

She’s in the same predicament Nadal and Djokovic will soon find themselves in. Thiem, Zverev, Medvedev, Tsitsipas will now all start playing to their seeds and it’s difficult to see those two lads in their mid 30s winning slams if they have 3 best of 5 games against that lot from the quarters on.

If you look at the year end the last few seasons, the big 3 have struggled. It’s the nature of it that the younger fresher guys will endure that type of schedule better.

I’m tipping Tsitsipas for Wimbledon this year. Hasn’t done much at Wimbledon yet but I think his game is perfect for grass.

Wimbledon is going to be very interesting this year, having none last year means we have question marks over Zverev, Thiem, Medvedev and Tsitsipas as none of them have played well there but they have all made huge progress since last playing there

Double break to love in the second set for Djokovic

Karatsev gets one of the breaks back

That is the predictiment that Federer has been in the last few years. Nadal and Djokovic need to get through these matches in 3 or 4 sets if they go to a 5 setter and win you can be nearly sure they won’t reach the final. Usually go out in the next round or 2. Just nature unfortunately they need more time to recover

Yes but the key difference is the likes of Tsitsipas, Medvedev, Zverev and Thiem are all finding that kind of maturity and consistency now that they are reaching the last 8 on a much more steady basis.

If we look at the last 4 slams say

Zverev - 1 final, 1 SF, 1 QF, 1 R4
Tsitsipas - 2 SF*, 2 R3
Medvedev - 1F, 1SF*, 1R3, 1R1
Thiem - 1 slam, 1 final, 1QF, 1R4

It’s a huge jump from where these guys were 18 months or so back.

The next batch of Shapovalov, Rublev, Sinner and FAA will also begin to improve.

Slams are at a premium now. Everyone expects Djokovic to end top of the pile but I think he needs at least 2 slams this year to put him in that reckoning.

His bread and butter which is hard courts is now being strongly challenged by Thiem, Medvedev, Zverev and Tsitsipas who are steadily improving.

I think Medvedev could beat Djokovic in the final if he gets by Tsitsipas, which I expect him to do.

Medvedev has a brilliant chance.

I’d put Djokovic as an outsider if he and Nadal swapped places from the QF on. A path of Tsitsipas/Medvedev/Nadal with a days less recovery in 5 days is a mammoth task.

Had it been Thiem playing Djokovic today and he was fit and healthy then I’d have Thiem as favourite. The draw has worked out beautifully for Djokovic who I don’t think is playing all that well.

Medvedev is a very tall man. The height of a giraffe.

6ft6 is definite giraffe territory

First blood to Medvedev.
