Nadal adapts his game now. He doesn’t make finals if he spends a lot of time on court early rounds.
Berrettini gave it a good shot but he’s woefully one dimensional. You don’t win the Championship without an all court game.
They asked Djokovic about the football tonight in his winners speech, thought it was kinda strange.
Djokovic will most likely get to 24 or 25 Grand Slam wins. Federer has almost certainly won his last one and Nadal may well have won his last one too.
There would be a suspicion with Djokovic that he only really came to prominence from about 2011 onwards once Federer had moved into his 30’s and well past his prime and injuries started to take their toll on Nadal from his mid 20’s. Federer had 16 Grand Slams won when Djokovic was still on 1. Going into the Championship final in 2011 (Nadal only a year older than Djokovic) had 10 Grand Slams and a 24 year old Djokovic had only won 2 (both in the poor relation of Australia) and was widely labelled as an under achiever.
Djokovic has really made hay over the last 3 years with no rival of note. Stating with the Championship of 2018 (just after he turned 31), he has won 8 of 12 Grand Slams. Of the 4 he didn’t win he was disqualified from the 2020 US Open for hitting a ball boy and quit injured in US Open against Wawrinka the year before. It’s a ridiculous level of dominance from a player in his 30’s which is also a damning indictment of the younger generation of players.
I hope there were no giraffes taking a long knee.
Did Djokovic lose the plot over in Tokyo or something?
Is there a danger he’ll implode in New York again?
Rafa is back in action in Washington this week.
Yep, lost the head not sure if it was the semi against Zverev or the bronze medal match, threw his racket into the stands and then I conceded the bronze medal match in the mixed doubles saying he was injured.
Nadal taken to 3 sets by Jack Sock at the Citi Open in Washington.
He’s a bit of an arsehole in all honesty. You think he’d have copped himself on by now.
And he wonders why he doesn’t get the love or support from the fans the way Federer and Nadal do.
Nadal out for remainder of the season and will miss the US Open.
Thiem also pulls out. Djokovic the only guy in it who will have won a slam in the past 5 years.
All kicking off between Zverev and Tsitsipas. Tsitsipas taking the piss with an 8 minute long bathroom break and Zverev accuses him on court coaching by getting texts from his dad. Roll on the US Open.
Was the tennis Olympics amateur players only at one time? I suppose all athletes are getting “paid” somehow, so have at it…
Last of the grand slams the US Open starts today. Djokovic as usual the favorite, no Nadal, Federer or Thiem in the draw either. Some cracking first round matches as well.

Looks like Berrettini and Djokovic will face off for the third successive slam. Berrettini can take some positives out of their last meetings. Needs the first set though and can’t cough up an early break in the second if he does take the first, as happened at Wimbledon.
I’d expect Medvedev to make the final on the other side. Zverev might take some confidence from beating Djokovic at the Olympics if they meet in the semi. Djokovic would have badly wanted the gold as he might not get another chance.
Baby Rafa took the first set against Tsitsipas but its’ 1 each now.
Ridiculous from Alcaraz. Tennis has a new star.
Leads 2 sets to 1
The crowd are giving Tsitsipas pelters as he takes another toilet break.
The young man has done it.
Unreal.
