Rian O’Neill like clutchness from Serena to save the match.
This is some Black and Tan tie break.
I thought tie breaks were first to 7?
A new move. Being tested at the 4 majors this year.
Is it only if it’s in the final set? Just copped that tie breaks don’t normally happen in final sets too
She’s gone
Only final set.
Crucible-like drama. What a match. Any opportunity to see Serena Williams in action is a treat. Well done Tan.
It’s a very underwhelming gentleman’s tournament this year, probably the weakest field assembled since the mid 1960’s and the pre-open era.
Four players in the World Top 11 didn’t even make it to the starting line. World Number 1 & 8 - Medvedev and Rublev banned and World Number 2 - Zverev injured. Number 11 Berrettini (who’d be ranked higher if it wasn’t for injuries earlier in the season) the form grass player after winning Stuttgart and Queens gets Covid. Cilic and Dimitrov two more very good grass players in the bottom half both out today with Covid and retiring injured.
The bottom half of the draw is utterly decimated. I looked at the draw this morning and figured if Nadal was to make the final, he’d likely face Querrey (Round 2), Cilic (Round 4), Auger-Aliassime (QF) and Berrettini (SF). All four of those exited today - 2 with Covid, 2 beaten. The only Top 20 seeded player Nadal can face before the semi final is 11 seed Taylor Fritz in the quarter final.
That’s before you even factor in the hangover caused by the absence of the Great Man from the field for the first time since 1998.
This Raducanu one is very annoying. Fist pumps after every winning point so far. We are only in game 4
She’s the Queen of Hearts
Beaten out the gate in straight sets
US open was a fluke
Close the door on your way out Andy
We have our very own resident Member of the All England Club here, @Tassotti. I’m sure he can clarify. Sounds like a load of nonsense.
Nick the Yid driving Tsitsipas to distraction here.
Wonderful use of the net cord by Nick the Greek. Stefanos the Russian not happy at all.
Uh oh.
That hold from Tsitsipas from 0-40 down in the opening game of the 4th set could be a big turning point yet. You’d never trust Nick the Yid in the fitness/physical conditioning department.
