Monfils levels it up at one set apiece. He was sensational in that second set.

Nadal 5-0 up in the third set and serving for the title.

A ray of a sunshine on an otherwise bleak sporting day.

Stunning forehand winner on Championship point for Nadal.

Hopefully this is the sign of something to come.

Rafa’s 9th Monte Carlo Masters.

Acid test of where he is at on clay will be his meetings with Djokovic.

The week has worked out very well for Nadal. Needed a Masters Series win to restore confidence. Its obviously moot now, but probably wouldn’t have beaten Djokovic if he’d met him this week. His confidence visibly though soared when Djokovic unexpectedly departed so early and he was very impressive in all his matches against Thien, Wawrinka, Murray and Monfils and displayed a level of form that he hasn’t shown for about 3 years. Should be quite a match if they meet in Rome and after that in Paris.

Predictable Djokovic v Murray final in Madrid.

Straight sets wins for both. Murray beating Nadal 7-4 6-4. Djokovic beating Nishikori 6-3 7-6.

Andy roars back to take the 2nd set in Madrid. Down to a deciding 3rd.

Murray has ended his coaching arrangement with Mauresmo. Not really surprised by this. It will be interesting to see who he brings in now

Quarter Final day in Rome. Djokovic has beaten Nadal in straight sets 7-5 7-6. Murray has beaten Goffin 6-1 7-5.

Good match currently on court in Rome in the second of the semi finals. Nishikori has got the break back in the third set. Djokovic leading 4-3, back on serve.

I would suspect its Federer’s last season before retirement. After missing large parts of the last four months through injury, no point in risking further injury on the muck in Paris and jeopardising his last chance of that record breaking 8th Championship.
