Time is catching up now. Might be time to hang up the racket, he owes the sport nothing

Said it here on Saturday, even though he beat Nick the Greek, he looked old and labored and every inch his 37 years in that match. Since winning in Australia back in January, a succession of defeats to players that shouldn’t be even taking a set off him. Should retire now.

Or switch to doubles.:grinning:

I’d imagine Federer will cling on in there as he’s worried 20 won’t be enough.

agreed

how many has he won since Nadal and Djokovic came onto the scene?

Nadal played his first Grand Slam at the Championship in 2003 which was also the Great Man’s first Grand Slam win. So it’s 20 Grand Slams won by the Great Man since Nadal came on the scene.

That wasn’t my question

It was your question, well half of it anyway. The Great Man has won 20 Grand Slams since Nadal came on the scene. You’ll have to do your own research as to when Djokovic came on the scene. Can’t help you there.

Ok, statto doesn’t know

Since 2008 when Djokovic won his first slam (Australian Open) aged 20 and Nadal won his first non clay slam at Wimbledon just gone 22, Federer aged 26 has won 8 slams in 10 years.

He basically made hay in a very weak era pre Djokovic and Nadal’s peak by winning 12 slams in 4 years. After that he’s played third fiddle to the greatness of Nadal-Djokovic. He has an inferior head to head record with both players at slams.

2008-present sees the slam count at.

Nadal 14
Djokovic 13
Federer 8

Federer prospered against a poor field with Nalbandian, Roddick, Hewitt, Philipoussis, Safin etc as the main competition. The Federer fan boys don’t like hearing it but they are the home truths.

I don’t but I’ve just looked it up. Djokovic turned pro in 2003 and played his first Grand Slam at Australia in 2005. The Great Man has won 16 Grand Slams since Australia 2005. That’s either 16 or 20 Grand Slams won since Djokovic came on the scene depending on whether you’re using the date of turning pro or first Grand Slam appearance as your benchmark.

wow, very telling

Yup.

I’m sure the Federer fan boys will focus on anything but addressing the points made there

After 4 hours 40, it’s a deciding set tie-break.

Nadal wins 0-6 6-4 7-5 6-7 7-6 in 4 hours 48 minutes.

Vamos!!

Vamos

Nadal involved in another one of the greatest matches ever played again. A true entertainer.

Just up for the end of that there. Looked a real grueling match, both players out on their feet at the end. Nadal has spent 4 hours 23 on court in Round 3, 3 hours 19 on court in Round 4 and 4 hours 48 on court just there now. Lot of energy for a 32 year veteran to be expending in the earlier rounds.

Djokovic won in 2 hours 11 in Round 3, in 2 hours flat in Round 4 and has the unseeded John Millman in the quarter final tonight.

I genuinely can’t see Nadal beating Del Potro in the semi-final. He doesn’t seem to be playing that well at the minute and just about battling through games and relying on his experience and mental strength to win the big points.

Del Potro on the other hand is flying and for the third slam in a row will meet Nadal, he’s lost the last two but will have the upper hand here, statistically this is Del Potro’s best year since he won a slam in 2009 and after a career blighted with injuries it is his 7th consecutive slam he’s been able to partake in. He’s only dropped a set so far.
