Yes. That was a terrific win there for Nadal, he really dug it out. In terms of overall tournament prospects, you’d feel he’s spent far too long on court already. When he lost to Federer in Australian Final last year, Nadal has spent close to 5 hours longer on court on the way to the final and tired badly over later stages. The one saving grace for Nadal in terms of the semi final is it’s not until Friday so nearly 3 days off. Del Potro lost in the semi final to Nadal last year at Flushing Meadows as well.
Djokovic through comfortably in straight sets. He has cruised through so far with the minimal of fuss, however he seems to have had some fatigue ailments in some of those games whether it’s the heat or not. The draw has been very kind so far with bottler Gasquet the only seeded player he has had to meet so it will be interesting to see how he fairs if an opponent can turn it into a very competitive game.
Nishikori awaits in the semi.
Whata guy Roger is. He had Millman over for a training camp in Switzerland before the US Open and was most gracious as usual about him afterwards. He truly is the measure by which sportsmanship is gauged.
Millman’s Dad actually missed the match as he was at school teaching kids.
Roger and John Millman are terrific blokes.
You alright love?
Del Potro eventually takes a 69 minute first set in the tie-break. He was a break up twice and blew two set points on his serve in Game 10.
Thought he had lost the set when he blew that game and then lost the next to love.
Yeah, he did well to pull it out as he blew that Game 10. Nadal has had 17 hours on court already going into this. Probably going to take another four hour shift to win this.
Not if does he usual and retire
Getting a medical time out now.
Vamos Rafa
Del Potro breaks for 3-1.
This is not going to last much longer. Looking more and more like Nadal is going to throw in the towel
Del Potro take 2nd set 6-2.
Nadal quits on his chair for the second time in a Grand Slam this year.
Am not shocked. Wonder would he have done it if he had of won the first set
That first set tie-break was the match. Del Potro was on the ropes going into it.
A disgusting coward who quits as soon as the going gets tough. No wonder he’s the poster boy for the pretend Italian brigade on here.
He won’t be chosen by his fellow professionals for the Stefan Edberg sportsmanship award for 2018. That’s for sure:
Straight set win for Djokovic over Nishikori. At least Nishikori battled through to the end without quitting on his chair.
