Djokovic retires injured a set down and 3-0 down in the second. Wonder if this will impact on him in New York much. Murray will never have a better opportunity to win a major championship anyway, Nadal seems to be off the boil, Federer looks finished and now there will be doubts over Novak with this injury.
Yeah, I’d agree with that. Djokovic is definitely favourite of course. It’s hard to know the extent of the injury, but tennis players don’t want to be fucking around with their shoulders. The other occasion on which Murray won in Cincy was 2008 when he also got to the final in Flushing Meadows. I’d make him second favourite for the tournament at the moment. Should be a more open Grand Slam than usual I think. As you say, Fed and Nadal not looking great. The likes of Tsonga and Fish will fancy a long run I’d say.

Fish seems to have had a good run against Nadal of late and if they were to meet in New York I think he could put the greatest out. How has Del Potro being playing recently?
Pretty poorly, Cilic and Fed have beaten him fairly comfortably in the last two events. I expected that he would have refound his form by now, it’s a bit disappointing. Perhaps he will need a full season to get back to where he was.
