A customer of mine found a programme from the 1957 munster final in a neighbours attic when they were clearing out the house. He knew I had an interest in the game so loaned it to me for a while. Long story short, I lost it. This poor lad was just thrilled with it so I’m mortified. Anyone have any idea where I could go about trying to find a replacement?
Ask Limerick Nomad. He collects them.
Does he post here under another name?
@The All Seeing Eye
Between waterford and Cork?
Thinly veiled, I sold my pal’s programme for €500 to some nerd at a GAA memorabilia convention in Hayes’ Hotel, Thurles, and now I want to get a replacement programme an unsuspecting sort who doesn’t realise the monetary value of said programme.
This is exactly the sort of thing this thread was set up for. Well fucked up CB.
Programme regularly comes up in the Collectibles Corner Mail Bids sales. One was sold in the December auction for €60.
He’s not a mate at all. That makes it worse.
My investigations have revealed that a set of 10 programmes of all the 1960s Munster finals went on sale in an Auctioneers in Castlecomer last July at a guide price of $80-120 and sold for €400.
That’s the game. I only took it home because I knew my dad (from Cork) would be interested in seeing it
Did your father rob it, I wonder.
What class of an eejit would pay that money for a few bits of paper from 50 years ago?
If only.
I barely even looked at the yoke as I only recognised a handful of players.
Quick update on this, continuing the spirit of the thread.
I searched high and low for this programme at home and work to no avail. Conscience got the better of me and, following @Fagan ODowd 's advice I had a look at collectibles corner website. He didn’t have the specific programme so I purchased a programme of the same vintage from the Wexford Cork All Ireland final from 1956.
It was actually a much better and more interesting programme. Ring was going for his ninth all-Ireland. All the Rackards were playing. Seemingly Ring had a chance to win it at the end but was thwarted by Wexford goalie, Art Foley, who cleared the ball to start an attack that led to a winning goal for Wexford.
Anyway, I gave the programme to the man and he was happy out. 3 weeks later, inevitably, I found the original programme buried behind a drawer. I’m between minds. I could give it to your man. Obviously I could sell it back on that website but I don’t think I’ll do that. If anybody here wants it send on a PM.

What was the cost of the programme on the web site?
€100
He’s a regular. I’ll make it back.

Give it back to him so. You’ll have a customer for life.
