In a few years they should have a serious team. Nearly all their team must have played for Tipp at some stage
You seriously wouldn’t have a notion.
Derry seems very competitive alright and they do produce some very good sides periododically. But class sides like Vincents and Nemo and Cross are rare. One Ballinderry side was excellent alright.
I’ve played out of the county and plenty friends and others i have met have been in Cork for games and some have transferred and can’t believe the standard. You will often get one team from a county who is excellent and they generally get several go’s at provincial. They improve because of this and the extra playing time makes them even more formidable the following year. KIB are a great example of this. Brigids as well. Both excellent teams from shit championships who can peak late.
In Cork you have to be ready for April/May due to relegation. Its actually had an effect on the standard of those games as they are so tense. Winning your first round secures your status. That makes being tip-top in November very hard.
Kerry is even more difficult, but in a different way and the lateness of it sets it up for them to win Munster club at all levels.
If this is gonna turn into a dick measuring contest between you and Totti again can you go clog up another thread rather than a betting one
Would you listen to you yourself and what you’re saying.
- It’s 1996 since a Munster club has won an All Ireland club in football
- Nemo are the only Cork club to win a Munster since 1996, winning five in that period
That in itself is a damning insight into both Cork club football and Munster club football, contrast that with Derry for instance.
Since 1996:
- Dungiven, Bellaghy, Ballinderry, Slaughtneill and The Loup have all won Ulster 6 times between them. Balilinederry were champs in 2001 while Slaughtneil made a final last year
- In that time period, the Derry Champs would have to come out of Ulster and do so they would have had to beat teams like Galls and Crossmaglen who shared 8 All Irelands between them in that period.
Cork and Kerry are nowhere near as good as the Derry Championship for starters.
No Munster club has won the all Ireland football since 1996 or hurling since 2004
informative rating
Did Crokes never win one? That’s a good one.
Nah lost to Cross after a replay in the only final they reached over the last while.
Crokes would never have even won an Ulster if they were in it - or an Armagh title for that matter.
Not many teams would have won an Armagh in fairness.
I think we can all agree that the fact that we’ll never know this for certain is one of life’s great great tragedies. Would it be worth having some sort of exchange program to maybe test this and see? It’d be fascinating.
Well Cross have failed to win Ulster more than they have won it.
Crokes?? Ffs they wouldn’t even beat cross not to mind win an Armagh or Ulster title.
Eh, they haven’t beaten Cross so, yknow, well observed.
You’d understand if you played.
Carlow clubs have reached All Ireland Finals, Laois and Rosscommon too.
The eventual winner is not a barometer of the overall championship.
Only Dublin could claim to have winners that reflect a good championship. And they have an advantage (a correctly made one like Kerry IMO) in having a late championship. The county players have it tough enough to keep going and motivated but other than that the momentum suits them.
I would admit the Cork championship has gone back a peg in last 3-4 years, but a change of format could change that quickly. There is no momentum to it, its around 8/9 minths start to finish.
Fuck sake that’s a bit harsh to lumping us in with Carlow!
Incidentally I saw that the Laois U17 footballers (presume the tournament is some minor development thing) beat Carlow 10-20 to 0-0 on Monday night.
I know that which is why I pointed out only one Cork club has won Munster in the past 20+ years while 5 different Derry teams have had the honour in Ulster.
Ulster have had 9 All Ireland triumphs in that time. Munster have had 0.
You its stuff like this that kills you. The just outrageous silly comments.
I would say Cross would have won titles anywhere. Nemo, Vincents, Crokes, Brigids, KIB, Ballinderry, Portlaois the same. They were or are all exceptional teams a long time in the making. You have occassional teams who might be great but seem to lack something like Castlehaven, Rahillys, Salthill etc.
Take Cross out of it and Ulsters record is aberage at best over that period.
Salthill won an all Ireland?
So what? We are talking about individual counties.
