The Ultrarunning Thread

There’s no 24 hour cut off on the paddy Buckley or the Scottish one. There is on the Bob Grahame, which are the three big ones of England Scotland and Wales. He’s now done all three. He did the Bob Grahame in 21 hours iirc.

Ramsey isn’t it?

Think that’s it.

Yep. Wicklow is 110km/6000m so big difference alright.

Rankin is the handiest

A lad ran through Newport this morning, about 200km and less than a day into Mizen to Malin (he’s going for the record) :face_vomiting::face_vomiting::face_vomiting:

Fucking hell. That’s some clipping. Looks a flat enough course?

Flattish, but still 650m climbing.

a mate of mine done it yesterday, nearly 14 hours, 8,104 feet of climb in the end

how did he get on?

5th, but he said the top four were all semi pro/pro level so he didn’t even see them after the first few k.
He was very satisfied with his effort.

Some fucking pace.

It is. Hard to get your head around it. I’ve known him a good few years. He rocked up to the tatton Tri a few years back as predominantly a soccer player, and barely able to swim, and with no cycling background, ran a 31 minute 10k.
He joined the Tri club and I observed as he rose from the bottom lane to the top in the pool in about 18 months.
He lives around the corner and runs the same routes we do with the dog tied round his waist. He’s usually running 22k at about 3.50 pace.
I was laughing at him the last day saying the dog must be the only dog in the world that thinks “oh fuck” when he says walkies to him.
He’s quiet and unassuming but has a lovely dry sense of humour.
He only gives me a Strava like if I’ve done something decent. It’s like getting a like off Bandage or O Dowd.

Savage running. How old is he?

I’d say he’s about 24 or so.

An absolute legend of the sport
