This lass isn’t actually 16 for a few weeks yet so the Mrs wanted to get her record for her birthday. The brother in law said there was an Arctic Monkeys one she wanted. Mrs dispatches me off to find it, as long as it’s not coming from Amazon are her words. I check all my usual Irish spots. Sold out in most but that gent Ray at Music Zone in Cork has it. Free shipping if you spend €60, so I tell the Mrs I might as well top up the purchase with one or two bits for myself. Got this gem
Lovely album but his best work was behind him, the reason we never heard from him again.
But we have The Colour of Spring, Spirit of Eden and Laughing Stock.
We shouldn’t complain.
It’s a pity he bowed out when he did but he said before he couldn’t be a family man and go touring at the same stage. Laughing Stock is the album I’ve listened to most the last two years. A book due out on him this year.
I have the Stereolab record and the Floating Points one myself.
New shop open in Waterford. Wished the owner the best of luck as I bought a few bits.
Skate shop?
Skate and vinyl.
Ah - right.
Raiding the soundtrack box tonight. Listening to Thom Yorkes Suspiria soundtrack. I’ll follow that up with the original soundtrack to the 1970s Suspiria movie by Goblin and then maybe some Morricone. Might listen to a bit of Nosferatu as well.
The missus wants a new record player for Christmas, we’re currently using an antique yoke that her mother bought about 50 years ago but in truth we don’t really use it much,
Best bang for the buck?
How much are you thinking of spending?
A few hundred, I dunno, certainly not more than 400 I’d say
