100%. Got them closer than anyone and the most tactically astute manager they ever had. Strikes as a guy much more likely to adapt well to the new rules than Horan would.
The new rules that Horan was one of the three main people to bring in?
@BeTimberin new pod is up but was obviously recorded bfore the announcement.
âMayo day
I thought McEntee was doing a very good job there until this year.
Took them over in a bad way. Got them comfortable in Division 3 and close in the Tailteann Cup.
We nearly beat them in the Tailteann Cup this year which shows how far they have regressed.
And nobody gets Sam
I find it mad that anyone would be advocating Horan or Rochford for the job.
Both had their chance and ultimately didnât deliver.
Horan in particular has been there twice!
We had them bate out the gate and only the width of a post saved them.A more experienced team whould have finished them off.
+1. Thereâs nothing wrong with the statement. They say theyâve decided to move on without him & they thank him & wish him well. What are the Bredas & Nualas expecting? A poem or something.
If they tried to fudge how the decision was reached that Tim weirdo would be straight onto Ewan and we would have another week of âsensational breaking newsâ from Mayo.
Yeah he played for Wicklow under Micko about 15 years ago sure. He was back playing club football in Mayo around 2015/16 though. A friend of mine held him to 0-1 in a Junior club match in Mayo around that time.
Poorly worded statements cause throuble.
This however is a good example of how fodder for keeping the GAA in the public spotlight can be manufactured from poor material.
All publicity is good publicity.
He applied to be manager of Louisburgh a few years back but was unsuccessful, Iâd say he will be a candidate for the big job now.
Sorry lads, but the correct manner would have been to allow Kevin the opportunity to step away himself, rather than what was tantamount to publicly pushing him out the door. Thereâs ways and means, and the GAA while having been pushed into big business by many, should still have that element to it. We need to be better.
In the best interests of the county Youâd wonder is it time for a Pat Gilroy cull of Ciaran Whelan type approach with Mayos elder statesmen?
Iâm led to believe the current mgmt wanted to stay and dug their heels in since last week. Hence the statement.
committee betas acting tough, disgracing their county folk
It would have been very easy to write something like âCoiste Mhaigh Eo has decided to move forward into 2026 with a new management teamâ or something like that.
I would imagine the person who wrote the statement is one of these strange types who writes barely readable, grammatically incorrect one sentence posts on forums like this one, and probably wouldnât know that seven nines is 63.
I think the key question is whether what is coming behind them is any better.
I think Whelan was a far better player then than OâShea is now but Dublin had much better players coming through then than Mayo have now.
Rochford?
